“I- oh, right!” Humans introduce themselves you idiot you’re supposed to know how to act human you’ll never find a host if you continue to act like this-
“I’m… Alice..? And, I guess you could say I’m a symbiote…” what was the word for it “Researcher, of sorts. Symbiote things, I gather knowledge and… Opinions about them, I guess. I… Guess I’m supportive of symbiotes.” Not entirely a lie.
Parasite-Alice stepped out a bit more from the shadows, their head tilted at an angle that had to hurt.
“May I ask, who are you? Obviously a vigilante. Are you one of the spider-creatures?”
Please say they were mistaken and this was some other vigilante please say it was mistaken-
“Hey, you! Spider…”
Parasite Alice paused, trying to regain control of their host’s body again why did they keep on fighting Parasites control why did they pick a host that was so difficult we need a new host soon FIND ONE
“What do you… What’s your opinion on symbiotes? What do you know about them?”
Parasite-Alice leaned up against a fire escape, her expression blank and emotionless.
Gwen froze and pulled her mask back down, spinning on her toes to face the newcomer. She hadn't even realized someone was there. She had to get a grip.
She tried not to seem too out of breath or panicky, but they'd likely be well aware if they'd been there for any time at all. They hadn't mentioned it yet, however.
It took a moment to process their question. She had to get a grip first. There wasn't a clear threat.
"...In theory? They're very interesting," That was flat. Not enough. This was a biology question, she liked biology. "I mean, I don't know a lot. But parasites are always interesting to learn about." She didn't know why this was one of the topics she always hedged on. Realistically, she knew her feelings. But this was one of the things where she had to test the dirt, to find her footing, before she could state her opinion. Especially because she still didn't know this person.
"I don't have anything against them. Certainly not the hosts, they are actively hurt in the exchange," She wrung her hands together. Paused. "I think my interest lands in what is best for the host and what they prefer." That shouldn't have been too far. No matter the harm inflicted on others, the host was a person in the exchange. And yet she found her grimacing as if she'd stated the most controversial opinion in the world. It was stupid.
"Uh, may I ask who you are? And what your opinion is?"

“Interesting! And quite the story. I found my first host through a very similar experience, with them saving me from a lab too. It’s good to see another symbiote that cares for their host, though. It’s a rare thing to see these days.”
Another of our kind, fascinating, to think others share our idea!

“Oh, hello! You’re a symbiote too, I see! It’s always such a pleasure to meet another of our own kind.”

Parasite was, admittedly, panicking.
They were scared. The spider was gone. Their friend was gone.
They were practically vibrating with anxiety as they searched, desperately looking for them. No, no, no, no, I can’t loose another-
They hadn’t bothered to hide in a nonhuman form, hadn’t bothered to take even a bit of precaution as they stood, perched atop a building.
Please… no…
What if they were gone what if they had been disgusted by them what if they were dead what if it’s my fault- Parasite couldn’t take it, couldn’t hold back as they let out a gutteral, alien scream out on the top of their lungs. They whipped around in a wide arc, their tail slamming into the metal railing and their claws painfully tearing into the concrete under them as they fully gave into the overwhelming, suffocating panic.
Alice-Parasite waved back, before after a long moment of not fully wanting to leave, and having to, they continued to walk away.
They were a bit surprised at how nice that felt, to talk to somebody who wasn’t trying to hurt them or were scared of them. Somebody who was polite to them- not out of malicious intent or personal gain, but out the pure empathy.
Parasite would see Ghost-Spider again, they were sure of it.

If Hailee Steinfeld isn’t playing a rich girl named Kate who wears lavender and is an excellent shot…
…then her character is dating a rich girl named Cait who wears lavender and is an excellent shot
But either way, she’s going to get captured by someone called Echo/Ekko
“I can do either, as long as I’m partially out like right now. Right now though, I’m talking out loud. You should be able to tell when I’m talking out loud or in your head, though.”
Parasite shifted around again, before speaking up, their voice echoed and faint, both quiet and loud at the same time.
“This is what it should sound like when I’m talking in your head.”
*Wheelie skips over to the spot that Parasite said and he looks around.*
Heyyyy, I’m here!
*He’s wearing a bright pink unicorn hoodie and pink cargo pants so he shouldn’t be too hard to spot.*

Parasite drops from the tree, letting go of the ant they had temporarily grabbed onto.
“Hey! Over here!”
The small alien moved closer, looking up at them.
Parasite noticed the pause in their voice, the slight hesitance. That usually meant regret or nervousness, didn’t it?
Make a connection with her to acknowledge that you know that something’s wrong, but don’t push it or make a fuss about it.
“Ah, I get that. I’ve been doing good though, surprisingly.”
They should get it over now, just… cut the bandage off? Wait, no, that was wrong, it was rip the bandaid off, that was it.
“Can I… Show you something? It’s nothing weird, I promise, just- well… It’s hard to explain?”
Wow, great job trying not to sound weird!
Gwen didn't go to Hudson Yard often. That would be obsessive. She didn't even expect to find Alice there.
But she would be lying if she claimed she didn't spend more time at the park than she used to. It was a good place to rest and sometimes patrol got stressful, so she'd take a few minutes and stop by.
Yeah, part of it was that it reminded her of Alice and she was able to feel a little less odd for a few minutes, but she wasn't trying to find them. That would be invasive. Gwen was getting better at recognizing that.
She sighed as she pulled at the grass, letting her mind wander. She tried to stay alert, she really did, but it felt like such a chore when there was simply her, grass, and air. So she let it go for a bit.
The wind blew at her side, not too strong, but it still made her shiver.
She heard footsteps as people wandered by. Not many, but some. Few stopped, which made sense. It was late and Gwen stayed hidden from the walkway between a tree and some bushes.
[Continue however you wish, sorry it took this long]
@spiritarachnid
Parasite had been lurking around Hudson Yard too, though they hadn’t been doing so as much.
Parasite had been in partial symbiote form. They had started to get more and more confident each day with it, especially after realizing that this was New York, where most people were used to aliens and mutants.
That didn’t change the fact that people still hid away, or grimaced, or moved away, or started to reach for concealed guns whenever they saw them, which was why they had been lurking a bit in the more shadowy parts of Hudson park when they had seen Gwen again.
Parasite almost did a double take, seeing the first person that had treated them normally and given them a chance. They had almost charged forwards before remembering that they didn’t have Alice as a host anymore, and seeing a symbiote host charging at them probably would be quite the alarming sight. Instead, they stood there for a moment, just staring, trying to contemplate what the next best move would be. They were really starting to regret not telling Gwen before they had parted they were a symbiote.
