Always a mystery to him

Casey and the turtles just saved the world, April and Spinter are still next to ruins and Casey was still processing the fact that he just sacrificed his sensei’s younger self to the kraang while sitting in the ruins of the once beautiful city of New York, the young teen is just sitting there, on the ground hiccuping sobs while trying to wipe away hot tears before a familiar voice came up on his prosthetic arm “HES ALIVE, THAT DUMBASS IS ALIVE!” the purple masked turtle called to the two humans and the mutant rat, the girl started to speak with tears of joy and relief “Oh my god, Don where are you four!?” She squealed at the turtle, giddy to see the slider “I’ll send our coordinates” the purple one complied, the raven haired teen was still in shock. Not only that he trapped the slider in the Prison Dimension but the fact that the blue turtle was alive befuddled him, barely realizing the girl was talking to him “Casey do you hear me?” The fellow human called “I’m sorry, what did you say” the boy replied, his voice still course from crying “I said do you want me and splinter to find you or do you want to go to everyone else by yourself” the girl repeated slightly impatiently “I-I’ll get there myself” he finally answers, wiping away a few last tears, still in shock before looking at the coordinates sent to his skull mask. He had a plan, get there slowly so the injured slider would be focused on the other human and the rat, Casey couldn’t bare to see the blue turtle that injured just because of the stupid, horrible thing he did even though it was the slider that told him to, he just couldn’t. Besides, staying in the background and staying out of the way was Casey’s specialty “that’s what I’m best at until I’m needed” he thought, walking slowly to where the turtles were, he had a lot of on the walk there “what can I even say?” “He’ll HATE me” “why am I even going?” He wondered. Once he finally reached the building that the turtles were on top of, he froze at the sight of the heavily injured turtle “Oh my god what did I do? Why did I pull the key?” His mind raced, the slider was still hugging the others while getting scolded by them before spotting the dazed teen, smiling at the sight of him “hey Casey! Come over here!” The slider called, Casey’s eyes perked up at the sound of his name not realizing that the turtle was talking to him. The rest of the group was now looking at the boy “Casey!” The familiar box turtle called as he wrapped his arms around the human, the long haired boy was still stunned at the sight of the slider and his injuries “here come see Leo” the orange one grabbed the teen’s hand and dragged him over to the heavily injured turtle, the box turtle sat down next to the blue one and signaled for the teen to sit as well “hey Casey!” The slider wrapped his arms around the boy, the teen still dazed “you doing ok dude?” The blue one looked at the boy “h-how are y-you?” The boy couldn’t even finish his sentence, his eyes started to water “hey it’s ok man” the slider comforted, rubbing circles on the boy’s back “and I don’t really know how I’m alive either” he laughs “y-you’re so hurt” the boy looks over the turtle noticing his cracked shell, his multiple gashes across his body and his bruises. The blue one looked at his injuries “heh, yeah I am”the boy puts his hand over his mouth “i-im so” he cuts himself off, trying not to sob “sorry?” The turtle finishes his sentence for the boy “there’s no need for you to be sorry, I’m the one that told you to close the portal” the turtle adds, holding the raven haired boy tighter, Casey tries not to cry, he begs himself not to cry because in the apocalypse, emotions are a sign of weakness. The red one starts to speak “hey this is sweet but we ought’a go home ‘n patch ya’up Leo” he reminds as the blue one breaks the hug, the long haired boy stands up as the snapping turtle grabs the slider in his arms, holding the smaller turtle bridal style. Casey’s mind is loud unlike the walk to the lair, his mind is wandering all over but the main thought is how could Leo possibly still

Like him, how could Leo forgive him for what he did? It was crazy that everyone could forgive him for closing the portal, but hey! Casey’s life was
