Remus chooses to believe that he is simply growing as a person and learning to challenge his anxiety instead of letting it hold him back, rather than it having anything to do with how intense his feelings for Sirius are. Because they aren't. Intense. They're just...feelings. Regular feelings. The exact normal amount of feelings that should be expected on the way to a second date.

Under this law, fanart of nude characters would be a federal crime.
Under this law, depictions of homosexuality or simply being transgender, would be considered pornography and a federal crime.
This bill is not going to pass.
However, the reason for this bill is to continue to push the "overton window". The reason for this bill is to make banning pornography seem more and more normal to everyone until they can actually do that.
And remember, they consider depictions of gay characters and transgenders characters "pornography" in any context, including platonic.
They have been working on this for a decade now and it has been working.
If you are one of the people in fandom who thinks that "nasty" porn on AO3 should be banned because it's "icky" or "immoral", then this mental scam is working on you.

Wolfstar Uni AU but Remus had to extend a year in uni because he had a chronic illness and (despite what this capitalistic society wants us to believe) keeping up with uni + falling ill once a month wasn't bearable anymore so he had to do a big mental work and stop being a perfectionist. And by that time he met Sirius in Uni and began a cute friendship where the posh punk guy dropped him to all his doctors appointment so Remus could gain some free time to go on actual dates with him (a perfect plan in Sirius's mind).

If you consume fanfic on ao3 and are 18+ and American I need you to lock in and call your senators saying you oppose a federal porn ban. This would effectively ban ao3 and being queer in public, among many other things, due to the intentionally vague language of the bill. I’m counting on queer tumblr and fandom tumblr to help me get the word out that you have to call your senators

anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

Becoming Remus this Christmas: Remus walks into the living room of their small flat and is surprised to see all of the presents under the Christmas tree have been rewrapped, colors and patterns all a bit different than they were yesterday.
Love on the Fly (WIP): Remus’s suitcase bangs into the backs of his ankles painfully and he winces, pausing for only a moment to rub them a little before hurrying on.

I swear the received wisdom we're developing about how to clock AI authorship is going to end up doing more harm than good. "Generative language models don't remember what they've written before, so plot holes in fanfic are a red flag that the author is using AI" yeah, and you know who else doesn't remember what they wrote last chapter?

I know, kind of salty for a heading, sorry, but we got some stuff to talk about. (Also, sorry I haven't been around as much but my life has been WONDERFULLY full, so thank you to everyone who's checked in. ❤️)
I've gotten a few asks in my inbox and I don't want to embarrass anyone and I also don't want to inadvertently give any future scoundrels and any tips.
"I love this fic but the author took it down, so I'm going to repost it on AO3, and just mention that I'm not the author"
NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! *sprays you with water*
You have a copy of the fic. Kudos. But if they author wanted it on AO3 then IT WOULD BE ON AO3. Taking a fic not on A03 and putting it on A03 is a massive "fuck you!" to the author. The ultimate sign of disrespect to someone who put HOURS AND HOURS of work into their. FOR FREE. The LEAST we can do as fans is GIVE RESPECT.
Authors are not corporations. Authors are not sponsored. Authors are not "content creators". They are HOBBYISTS who are sharing their HOBBY with you.
Enjoy the fact that you have the fic.
If the author wanted it shared in ANY WAY they would put it back on A03.
Also I hate that I have to say this, but this same logic goes for Wattpad, Goodreads, Fanfiction.net, PDFs on reddit, and every site ever. Please stop.

Many authors took down work because they don't want their art mined by AI and you're putting it back up for AI.
Many authors took down their work as a rebellion against JKR and you're spitting in their face while they're trying to protest something.
Many authors took down their work because they're trying to pitch it as a book and they can't because agents and publishers search for the phrases and go "Well this exact story is already up for free and it's got gross, X-rated material I didn't see in my draft, so I'm definitely not giving them a book deal now". Congrats, now you'll never get a published and bound copy of your favorite fic.
Many authors took down their work because they are no longer proud of their work and they've grown as an artist and having the work up brings them daily shame, but you put it back up anyway.
Many authors took down their work for reasons that WE WILL NEVER KNOW and it's still our place to respect that.
Look, I support piracy. Corporations don't let us own anything anymore, so pirating isn't even stealing. But fanfic authors are not corporations. And you can't own a fic that isn't yours.
These authors have NOTHING but control over their work and you are stealing that. You are ruining their art, after they made it for you, for free.
If you love something, respect it.
I know you think you're helping fans by reposting a fic but I can't tel you how many authors I know that no longer post their fics BECAUSE THEY KNOW PEOPLE WILL STEAL THEM.
Reposting fanfics is killing fandom.
What do you do as a fan when you see reposted fanfics?
If you can, find and tell the author so they can take legal action.
Bully the author. Respond to every single comment on A03 and tell them exactly why the fic shouldn't be online, and why they shouldn't be supporting the non-author who published the fic without the author's consent
Go to the re-poster's social media and spread the word there. IDC anymore.
Talk about it with your friends and in servers. Every time you see someone asking for "PDFs of a fic" on tiktok go ape shit in the comments and get all your friends to help.
Okay, rant done. And remember, if you feel powerless, you will always have the power fanfic authors. You're part of this community. Your value and actions matter.
What they don't tell you about writing is that as you write, you discover scenes and entire plots that you hadn't accounted for that need to be written. So you can spend two hours writing and editing only to realise you're further away from the finish line than you thought you were when you started

you'll get the urge as an artist or a writer to say out loud the things you're worried about "the proportions are off" "kind of out of character" "i'm not good at summaries" "didn't get as much detail as i wanted" "i made a mistake and here's how" and that's the self-conscious part of your brain telling you "it's bad and if you don't tell them you know it's bad then they'll think you're stupid" but you've got to ignore that little voice and pretend you think it's good or else that little voice is going to ruin your life
Sirius and Remus are both friends with James, who introduces them to each other during a party. They chat a bit and drink a bit and Sirius takes Remus to his place and they have sex
The next morning, Sirius wakes up to find Remus in his kitchen drinking tea. It makes him grumpy because he doesn’t like it when his one-night stands stay in the morning
Sirius’s grumpiness increases when he realises that Remus wants to start a relationship. Sirius doesn’t want to date Remus, and he tells Remus this
Much to Sirius’s horror, Remus tears up as his expression turns dejected. Sirius doesn’t deal well with crying people, so he panics and suggests that they could go for coffee in the hopes that a good coffee and a pastry will distract Remus from the disappointment, and it works; Remus is significantly cheered up by the suggestion
They go to a café, Sirius buys Remus a hot chocolate and a slice of cheese cake, and they sit at a table by the window, and it’s a bit awkward, but Sirius knows how to deal with awkward, and chats to Remus who eventually starts chatting back
Remus is actually pretty interesting, and the longer Sirius looks at him the clearer he realises that Remus is also pretty cute
After they've spent two hours chatting Sirius suddenly has a horrifying thought: he's on a date with Remus. He gets the immediate urge to leave, but first he must have closure on the story Remus is telling him, and then the topic shifts and Sirius has to hear what Remus wanted to say, and then Sirius needs to contribute to the conversation, but after that he's definitely out of there!
Another two hours go by before Remus says that he needs to go home. They exchange numbers because Sirius can’t stand the idea of seeing Remus so sad again. He'll just ghost Remus afterwards. Not his finest moment, but better than watching Remus get sad again
Remus texts Sirius that evening sounding really excited, and Sirius can’t bear to ghost him, so he texts with him for a bit. They agree on another date. Sirius will definitely let Remus down gently after the date
They go on a date. Sirius enjoys it. He thinks that maybe it won’t be so bad to go on another date with Remus before turning him down, it would be such a shame to ruin such a nice evening
Of course Sirius then realises he actually enjoys Remus’s company so much that there’s no reason to turn him down any longer, and then they kiss a lot and have a happy relationship
