These two dumbass brothers being codependent because of a shitty dad but it's okay because they know what they're doing is right because what they're killing is evil

And then when you look at Season 9, where I'm at right now, Dean's still codependent to all hell and Sam's just tired. He pushes Dean away because he tried to save him even though he's barely done the same any time Dean's been almost dead

Bobby's dead, that old house is gone, monsters are good it turns out, and the brothers aren't really acting like brothers, because Dean couldn't live without Sam

But Sam could always live without Dean, so the rift just grows

I haven't had many links to share in the last week or two because I've been reading from PDFs. The above link goes to an incredible LJ community, spnstoryfinders. It is, praise the fandom gods, still active after all these years. Admittedly it's quiet nowadays. As we know, much of fandom has moved on from that platform, so there aren't as many hands to help with every search, but it's still a wonderful resource, and every pair of dedicated eyes deserves thanks. 🙌

It's also heavily tagged (characters, pairings, themes, tropes, etc.), so even if you just wanted to go scrolling back through old searches to find fics to read, it'd be worth it.

But what I'm sharing today are the lists of deleted authors/journals/stories (there are two posts–don't miss the second one, linked in the first paragraph). Where available, the lists provide links to download the deleted fics.

Our fandom has lost a lot of fanfiction and fanart over the years, either by having it swept out from under us by platforms we trusted or deleted by the creators themselves. Having some of it recovered and shared like this is a bit like having a little treasure chest we can open any time we like. 🫶

Don't take it for granted, though. Save your favourites. Download the fics in your bookmarks. Back up your backups. Preserve yesterday and enjoy tomorrow. ✌️

It's raining nonstop where I am so I'm just picturing the Batfam during a flood.

Red Robin uploads a TikTok from the safety of a roof saying "watch him go!" As Red Hood keeps trying to drive his bike against the current. A big wave comes by and he's slowly dragged downhill. The caption reads "don't drive during floods".

Batman and Robin are on the ground helping civilians out of cars when the intensity doubles and in minutes Damian goes from wading knee deep in the water to swimming. The emergency batfloaties get triggered and he floats away as Bruce fails to grab him by half an inch. "Robin serenely drifting in the current" becomes a meme.

Someone takes a picture of a very flustered spoiler trying to squeeze the water out of her cape. The second she lets go the weight of the water makes her fall ass over backwards. Black Bat ends up giving her her waterproof cape.

Signal makes mirages of sharks in the water to scare the shit out of any criminals. Oracle uploads the recordings with Benny hill as background music. Bludhaven escapes the worst of the storm and Nightwing sends pictures to the group chat patting the barely wet concrete just to rub it in. He still slips on a puddle and eats shit, Barbara sends that to the group chat.

Why would the X-Men name Hank Beast?

Why would the X-Men name Hank Beast? Sure, he’s big, blue, and hairy, but a ‘beast’ is usually something that is uncivilized and brutish. While he may be ‘scary’ to some, he is anything but uncivilized. He regularly quotes novels like Dante’s Inferno, and isn’t just spitballing something that sounds smart. He has the ability to discern decent interpretation of the texts and use them at his discretion in fitting scenarios. The speedo might be a bit weird, but shoving that much fur into clothes must be uncomfortable. The chafing would be horrible, with constricting materials not necessarily being made to fit him. And a lot of anti-mutant organizations like the ‘Friends of Humanity’ call many mutants beasts. So why would Xavier take one of his most ‘monstrous’ mutants and let him be called Beast? It’s almost like he’s attempting to ‘reclaim’ the term like the IRL LGBTQ+ community reclaimed the word ‘queer’ for themselves. But it’s more akin to some trying to reclaim the f-slur- I’d expect ‘mutie’ to become something to reclaim, not something that has such heavy connotations with ‘monsters’. Xavier found Hank after the deaths of his team and made him forget. He turned him into this icon of ‘beasts’ unwittingly, and surrounded him with ‘more palatable’ mutants like he was some sort of diversity hire.

Maybe that’s why Hank clings to humanity so much, he wants so desperately to not be seen as a ‘beast’.
