jude:
someone said that they miss Jude, but I don't miss him I take him everywhere I go, I let him wander in my mind all the time, it's like I have him with me in some form or the another everywhere
"The only person who sees Jude for exactly who he is, is Malcolm..." "..and Jude hates him for it, Jude resents him for it.." "..the interventions Malcolm makes in his home."
- Hanya Yanagihara, A Little Life Play interview
"Willem's flaw is pretending....." "when you're having sex with someone, you can usually tell when they're not enjoying it.."
(indirect, Hanya's words, yet not in the interview ; "Harold's greatest flaw is not trying hard enough. He has compassion and love for those in his life, but he should have gone further."
"Andy, simply, is a bad doctor.")
here’s how i think the boys’ social media’s would be like
jude:
i think he would absolutely not have any social media at all, out of fear. but i can kinda imagine willem encouraging him to make an instagram after they went official. i feel like he’d post really artsy pictures of like trees in central park with a b&w filter on
willem:
i just know he is on EVERY platform ever idc and i feel like he’s super active on his stories too
malcolm:
would have instagram but it’d be one post from like 2013 of him and the boys
jb:
ABSOLUTELY would have insta and would make it everyone’s problem. i can picture him taking film photos of them all and just captioning it something like ‘judy.’ or ‘beauty.’ LMFAOOO
every time I remember Jude left Harold an eight pages letter, one part of me dies
I think one of Jude's majorly overlooked character traits is how funny he is. I still lose my mind everytime I read that one scene where Harold was interviewing Jude for his research assistant position and he mentions how, except for a few of them, the majority of the amendments in the constitution are the "dross" of politics past. Dross has a couple of meanings, the one Harold meant was "remnants" but another meaning is "worthless" and Jude is so quick to ask him "You think the thirteenth admendment is worthless 🤨?"
For non-Americans the thirteenth amendment is the one that abolished slavery lmfao get that white man Jude
me because i was actually not able to breathe by the end 🩷
Me back to when I finished Dear comrade AND Lispenard street in ONE sitting
Jude when he used to take his walks
- a little life
dear god this book. this book is. i'm consuming it like i did with books back in third grade, back when life was just beginning to crumble and i was going down with it, back before i knew just how bad it could get. i'm devouring this book and it is so painful. it's speaking to me and it's making me cry.
i will literally never shut up about Een Klein Leven but I'm doing a rewatch (again) and holy shit I will also never shut up about Ramsey Nasr's acting. The face he makes when Brother Puke tells him they're a couple now (yall know what i mean) is absolutely HEARTBREAKING
that is an EERILY childlike expression holy shit I'm about to throw something. he said 🥺
AND THEN THE FACE OF HEART SHATTERING ACCEPTANCE OF THE INEVITABLE
RAMSEY NASR WHEN I GET YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A LITTLE LIFE.
