Anti and Flowey.

Can I just point out that I very much love the parallels between Anti and Flowey from Undertale?

Firstly, aesthetically, Anti and Flowey’s voices (as deigned by Jack) are very similar: high, raspy, constantly jumping or glitching.

Secondly, they speak in very similar patterns. They both constantly talk about power, control, and the weakness/powerlessness of their audience.

“This world is mine!” -Anti “I am the GOD of this world!” -Flowey

“Over, and over, and over!” -Both, in the same tone of voice (according to Jack, anyway)

Both of them are apparently soulless, very violent and sadistic, and they love to play with their audience (Flowey through false friendship and betrayal, Anti through glitching in and out at random and leaving cryptic messages). To them, everything is a game, and they want desperately to be in ultimate control.

But it makes me wonder...

(SPOILERS FOR THE END OF UNDERTALE)

Flowey is a more-or-less corrupted version of Asriel. In the end of the game, in a pacifist run, you might not be able to save him directly, but you remind him what it felt like to feel. If you open the game again after the True Ending, it’s Flowey that appears to ask you, beg you not to reset the game again, because he wants to remember how to feel. He wants the others to be happy.

if Flowey could be saved...could Anti? Taking it even further than that, could Anti be in a similar situation to Flowey?

Is he a corrupted Ego, perhaps one we forgot existed? Who could that be? And is there a way to save him?

Side note: I love that Anti said “There are no strings on me!” Makes me love my url even more than I already did. Gives it a nice fandom touch. :)

Looking back on CHASE I noticed something. 

The scene where he suddenly ended up at the parking lot and looked around, it’s clear he noticed he didn’t have his whiskey on him. But I think he may have lost something else. 

Before he looks at his hand that held the bottle, he feels his front pocket:

and then looks to his hand, his palm shaped more as if he’s mining hold a phone and not a bottle:

At first I thought he was checking to see if he still had the photo, maybe to get a gage the time he had lost or gained: was he thrown back in time or forward?

Then I checked:

The photo came from his back pocket. Not only that his front pocket is bulged and rectangular, like a phone. 

Chase lost his phone at some point in ‘transporting’. 

This is an observation and although I have my thoughts as to what it could mean, they’re half-arsed and sleep deprived. If anyone else has theories to what this could be, feel free to mention. :)

I mean...I think he's too far gone.

Can you explain?

[Long pause] I've started calling them Hyde Glitches.

Hyde Glitches? As in, Jekyll and Hyde?

Yes, exactly. Some call them monsters. Some call them demons. Some simply call them the...darker...parts of us. All of them are right to some degree. These things...they're somewhere in between. Near as I can figure, they're a type of thought form, something created from the minds of people, brought into real life by enough concentration from enough people for a long time. These specific thought forms, they come into being through the internet. Youtube, primarily.

And how does that happen?

Fandoms. They...they grow around these people, thousands or...or millions of people, who're watching, focusing, thinking about this one...focal point.

Does the entity just...come into being? Naturally?

Well, no. Not usually. I think it starts when someone...some mad bastard has the brilliant idea to write up something...dark, about these creators. A fanfiction. They write them a dark side, a hidden psychopath. And then for some sick reason, people latch onto these dark sides. They name them. They draw them. And the longer this idea is around, the stronger the creature gets, until...until they take control. [Pause] I think that's what he's doing now.

And what's his name? This..."thought form" version of Mr. Mcloughlin?

He's got a couple of them...but...the most popular...

They...call him Anti.

"Anti"? As in, opposite?

Yes. [Nervous laugh] I never said it was terribly creative. It's short for Antisepticeye. A play on the channel name.

Alright. So..."Anti". This creature has control of Mr. Mcloughlin? Is there any way to destroy it?

Helena, it's my job to believe in...unusual things.

Well...Sean's got to do it. He's got to fight him off. That's why I call it a Hyde Glitch. They're dark sides, so the only way to defeat it is for the light side to win.

Do you think that Sean is strong enough to do that?

I think...he has to try. I hope to god he is.

Why is that?

Because no one else has a chance at stopping him, once he's free.

So what you’re saying is that we might not have Anti’s real name? That would be an interesting dynamic to explore.

Has Anti ever said that his actual name is Anti :/ ? Like that’s what we and Jack call him but he has never used that himself.

My guess would be that "little buddy" might refer to Mark as per survalence by the egos. That "designation: little buddy" is simply a code name referring to the constant survalence of the ego's "little buddy", mark. But that's just a theory, a gAME THEORY

lol seriously, though, I can get behind that. I like the irony in the implication that provides that Mark is the sidekick character in this. And I like the idea of all the egos keeping an eye on him as he’s wandering around this place, or, alternatively, trapped there.
