When Dae-Su invites the whole gang to visit his uncleโs gym for โfun,โ it never crossed anyoneโs mind that they would be learning fighting skills. Perhaps Nam-Ra was smart to decline even before hearing the entirety of the planned itinerary, opting to study instead. To put it courteously, Dae-Suโs uncle was as eccentric as he was, maybe even more so.
Though you have to admit you could get behind his reasoning for pairing everyone up the way he did, regardless of whether it was truly effective in terms of honing techniques or just based on skill level, thereโs no doubt itโs now your new form of entertainment:
1) On-Jo was kicking Cheong-San back and forth on their mat, expressionless. Poor guy looked like he was in a pinball machine, but he truly didnโt seem to mind even though you knew he was agile enough to avoid it. You canโt lie; theyโre absolutely adorable even when they fight. Seeing I-Sak coming over occasionally to tease them only confirmed that you werenโt the only one who thought so. Huh, who wouldโve thought self-defense training between two people could be this cute.
2) Animatedly, Gyeong-Su gestures โladies firstโ to I-Sak, but she mimics his motions, repeating for him to โman up.โ From your point of view, it looked almost comical, like one of those silent movies you could never understand. Neither of the two seemed to take it seriously; they were simply just having fun yielding to one another, taking nothing to heart.
3) Ji-Min and Hyo-Ryung were in some kind of mutual stand-off, neither one of them daring to move, their stance reminding you of two cats with a ball of yarn in the middle. They were too far away for you to listen in, but from the formerโs expression, you could tell she was complaining endlessly. Is it worth it to bet on who would make the first attack rather than who would win between them?
4) In a corner, Wu-Jin and Joon-Yeong were ganging up on Dae-Su, except the biggest hurdle was that they clearly needed an actual gang to make Dae-Su budge. Apparently, his position as the so-called mediatorโsince it was deemed no one could win in a fight against Dae-Su if he simply laid downโdidnโt matter to the other two; it was purely an opportunity for them to use him as a stress ball. You laugh at the idea that as a referee, one is supposed to keep a close eye on matches to ensure all rules are adhered to, but here, Wu-Jin and Joon-Yeong definitely found a loophole: if you take out the official, anything goes.
5) Now, that left you and Su-Hyeok, mainly because according to Dae-Su, he wanted to see you guys fight to the death, leaving you wondering if he meant that in the literal sense. โBare-Su doesnโt know what giving up is, and Y/N would never accept defeat,โ was his reasoning, pestering his uncle to pit the boys and girls against one another. Originally you and On-Jo were supposed to practice together, but for some reason, it just ended up like this. You were going to question Dae-Su as to why only the four of you were in a mixed pair, but decided against it. Knowing him, itโs probably better if you didnโt ask.
As youโre watching the hilarious matchesโif they could even be called thatโSu-Hyeokโs voice draws you back to your own mat and sparring partner for the day.
โOut of all supernatural beings, what are you most afraid of?โ โZombies,โ you say without hesitation. โAlright, then go ahead and imagine me as a zombie in a sudden apocalypse.โ โPlease, when would zombies show up? At a high school of all placesโI donโt think so,โ you reason, giving him a pointed look.ย โJust for mock situational purposes, Iโll be a zombie; a handsome one.โย
โYou?โ โYeah, you canโt picture me as a zombie?โ โNo, I can, but not as a handsome one,โ you tease, even though it was far opposite from the truth.ย Rolling his eyes, he gives up. โFine. Letโs just say Iโm a regular zombie.โ Su-Hyeok begins to move behind you as he says, โIn the instance that Iโa zombieโwere to come around and do thisโฆโ He wraps an arm around your shoulders, placing your neck in the crook of his elbow in a squeezing motion that would choke you in a real-life situation with more aggression involved.ย Surprising him, you quickly remove his arm, spin around, and pin it behind his back in a matter of seconds. Technically, he never asked if you had any prior experience, which you did; a black belt to be exact, but he doesnโt have to know that.
โHow are you this strong?โ Su-Hyeok asks, genuinely shocked.ย Though he groans at the pressure you applied, he reverses the disadvantageous position by drawing your arm out and back up over you, untangling himself first before flinging you down on the mat. Despite that, he still throws an arm out for you, cradling your neck to lessen the impact you wouldโve received otherwise. You would never tell Su-Hyeok, but his absolute care for youโleagues even above othersโwas your heartโs kryptonite.
โYou donโt think I can handle a fair fight, huh?โ Without faltering, you wrap your legs around his waist and flip yourself back on top, not quite registering that you were presently straddling him. Too competitive to pay it any mind, you miss the slight smile Su-Hyeok tries to suppressโthat always meant trouble. Decisively, you shift into putting him into an arm bar, one leg across his throat while you twist his arm tightly, disabling him from moving. โI never said that you couldnโt!โ He taps the floor, seemingly signaling that he wanted out. โI give up!โ He exhales tiredly.
โOh sorry!โ You apologize hurriedly, truly worried.ย Knowing that you had an unfair advantage to begin with, you loosen your grip altogether, already beginning to check if you went too far in the spirit of competition when Su Hyeok unceremoniously flips you back around, pinning you down. Y/H/C splays out beneath you, a stark contrast against the blue mat as his hands hold your wrists above your head, pressing it firmly to the floor while his knees lock outside of yours, restricting all movement. โOof,โ you gasp, not expecting the force or the motionโs speed, struggling against the added weight on you.
You look up, seeing Su-Hyeok chuckling openly at you having fell for his trick. His face ends up unbelievably close to yours, so close that you can see drops of sweat dotting his hairline. Every time he exhales, you can feel his breath ghost over your face, and you wonder if he could hear how fast your heart was beating or whether he could feel it from the radial pulse in your wrists through his hands due to the compromising position he currently had you locked in. His eyes sweep from your face down to your lips for a split second before looking back up, though it goes unnoticed by you.
Your feelings aside, you were never one to loseโDae-Su was spot-on about thatโand you definitely could get yourself out of the position if you just knee him where itโs known to hurt the most. Even those without training would know that oldest trick in the book, but instead, you figure that messing with him is a thousand times more satisfying.ย โDo you know your place now?โ He taunts, repositioning his hands in a more comfortable position so that it wouldnโt put too much force on your wrists; far too considerate for the situation at hand. โYou mean underneath you?โ You gaze up at him, defiantly, challenging him to make another move.ย Clearly flustered at your suggestive tone, his smile falters, causing you to burst into laughter. Dae-Suโs uncle walks around the dojo, gauging the progress of every duo when you see him stopping by your area, scratching his head in confusion. โOh, geez this isโฆdifferent. What do we have here?โ His eyes widen as he mutters to himself, before he goes back to his usual neutral expression youโve seen all day. โSoโฆuh, who won?โ He raises his eyebrows at you and Su-Hyeok. โIโve never had to determine who is the victor in thisโ" he gestures at the air, โโkind of a match before.โย You scoot your head a little bit to the side so you could make eye contact with Dae-Suโs uncle out of respect. How ironic, considering what he was seeing in front of him. Clearly, Su-Hyeok was still too stunned to think properly, but hasnโt let you go. โMe!โ You reply without shame, even adding in a smile for good measure.ย Skeptical, Dae-Suโs uncle nods anyway. โWellโฆgood going? Keep it up?โ he compliments, or rather, questions awkwardly, before going on his way to the other end of the room.ย You have half a mind to wonder what kind of first impressions you and your friends were making, thinking about what Dae Suโs uncle would encounter on the other mats to follow. When you turn your head back, Su-Hyeok is still looking at you. He shakes his head in amusement as you nudge his knee with yours. โWhereโs the sportsmanship? You just declared victory with a lie. All my hard work went down the drain.โ โWell, should have spoken up earlier then, you fool.โ He scoffs at you, before narrowing his eyes. โHey! Donโt try to distract me! Is your solution in an unexpected situation to seduce your way out of it?โ You blush but hold it together. โDepends, did it work?โ Su-Hyeok splutters. โI told you to imagine me as a zombie. How would the undead fall victim to human charm?โย โSo, youโre saying my charming nature is distracting.โย โNow youโre just twisting my words.โ โYou didnโt answer my question,โ you press. โWas my method successful or not?โ โAgain, Y/N, let me remind you that Iโm a zombieโ" โIโm not asking Zombie Su-Hyeok, Iโm asking Human Su-Hyeok what he thinks.โย Thereโs a dangerous glint in his eyes, which should have been warning enough for you. He moves to lace his fingers with yours, and leans in even further, his face barely an inch away. He smirks. โMaybe if you do it more often.โย Not knowing what to say and abruptly much too shy to retaliate, you quickly throw him off of you and move back into a sitting position, your cheeks red. Su-Hyeok falls to the mat on his back, laughing so hard heโs shaking. You kick him with your foot in childish revenge to no avail, glaring all the while. He finally sits up, leaning back onto his arms to continue staring at you, smiling cheekily at the expression on your face. โAfter that, I think I clearly won.โย Dae-Su comes by and squats between the two of you, looking back and forth pensively. โAs the designated referee and the one who suggested this activity in the first place, Iโm saying this for the benefit of the whole and all the single people in this room: Next time, a little less flirting and a lot more fighting, please.โ

โคท yeon sieun
sieunโs intimacy comes in the small momentsโlike when he opens a door for you, but always steps aside to let you go first, a quiet sign of respect. heโll adjust your coat collar without a word, smoothing it down before moving on, as if making sure youโre comfortable. when youโre bent over, looking for something under a table, heโll instinctively cover your head with his handโjust a small, protective gesture. itโs never grand, but itโs always thoughtful.
heโs the kind of person who notices when you're cold and is already taking off his jacket โitโs cold,โ and draping it over you without a second thought, though he wonโt make a big deal of it. when youโre sitting together, his arm will hover just a little too close to yours, as if he's quietly reassuring himself that you're there. heโll never make a show of it, but youโll always know heโs watching over you, in his quiet, reserved way. everything with sieun feels intentional, even the simplest things.
โคท ahn suho
suhoโs intimacy is about making you feel seen in the simplest ways. when youโre cooking or working on something, heโll lean against the doorframe or sit beside you, offering small compliments about how youโre doing, and always with that mischievous grin. โyouโre doing great,โ heโll say with a smirk, watching you from the corner of his eye. his hand often brushes yours when passing something or reaching for the same thing, a lingering touch that makes your heart race. when youโre resting, heโll plop down next to you, throwing an arm around your shoulder, sometimes pulling you in close just to kiss the top of your head. itโs spontaneous, but comforting, like he wants you to know heโs always close by.
โคท park humin (baku)
bakuโs intimacy is energetic, playful, and full of affection. if youโre sitting next to him, he might casually drape his arm across your shoulders, pulling you closer just because he wants to be near you. โyouโre so slow,โโ heโll tease as he kneels in front of you, tying your shoes, eyes dancing with amusement. โyou canโt even tie your shoes without me, huh?โโ heโd joke, leaning in to kiss the tip of your nose, a light laugh escaping him when you protest.
heโll sneak in little kisses when youโre least expecting itโlike when youโre reading or just chilling, he'll kiss your cheek and then immediately crack a joke to make you laugh. when youโre both walking, heโll occasionally grab your hand, squeezing it firmly as if to remind you heโs there, even in the midst of everything else going on.
โคท go hyuntak (gotak)
gotakโs casual intimacy is grounded in reliability and comfort. heโs the type to pull a blanket over your lap when you're sitting together, even if you never asked for one. โi got you,โ heโll say with a simple smile, adjusting the blanket around you. when you're working on something at the table, he might sneak up behind you, brushing your hair aside to make sure itโs not in your face, his hands moving with care. when youโre carrying something heavy, heโll insist on taking it from you, his hands gentle but firm as he lifts it effortlessly.
while youโre sitting together, heโll keep his hand on your knee or gently rub the back of your hand, a quiet sign of affection that doesnโt need to be said. when youโre sharing a meal, heโll subtly pick at your plate, offering you bites of what he thinks youโll like. itโs the quiet intimacy that comes with being so comfortable around each otherโno need for words, just the simple act of being there. (PLEEAAASEEE someone request a fic for gotak i need him SO BADDD)
โคท seo juntae
juntaeโs intimacy is shy but heartfelt. when youโre walking together, heโll subtly brush your hand, his fingers just grazing yours, as if heโs unsure but canโt help himself. โs-sorry,โ heโll stutter, his face turning pink, but his hand stays just close enough. if youโre sitting at a table or working on something, heโll offer you a piece of candy or a drink, his eyes always flicking away as if embarrassed, but the sweetness of his actions speaks volumes. when youโre talking, heโs always leaning in just a little closer, showing you that heโs really paying attention, even if his face is flushed. when youโre resting, he might cover your shoulders with a blanket without you asking, his gaze lingering on you in a quiet, soft moment.
โคท na baekjin
baekjinโs intimacy is intense, but itโs also about subtle control. when youโre walking or standing together, heโll always position himself just a little closer than you expect, his arm around your waist or his fingers brushing against yours in a possessive but quiet way. โstay close,โ heโll say lowly, his voice firm but not harsh. his hand will often find the small of your back as he guides you, leading you with a certain quiet confidenceโlike heโs claiming the space around you while keeping you close without needing to say anything.
when youโre studying or working, he wonโt interrupt, but occasionally, youโll feel his presence in the smallest gesturesโhis hand quietly finding its way to the top of your head, fingers brushing your hair as if to say heโs there. sometimes, heโll have one of his goons order your favorite drink, all without saying much, just showing that heโs thinking about you. his love is in the details, in the way he silently supports you through the little things, making sure you always feel cared for, even when he's not directly in the spotlight.
โคท geum seongje
seongjeโs intimacy is impulsive and possessive, driven by his need to dominate, but thereโs an underlying current of obsession when it comes to you. with him, affection is not something soft or gentleโitโs sharp and possessive, in a way that makes it clear you belong to him, and he enjoys reminding you of that. โyouโre mine,โ heโll say sharply, his grip tightening when he pulls you in. heโs the kind of person to hold your wrist tightly when he wants to get your attention, or pull you by the arm just a little too firmly when heโs ready to take you somewhere.
when youโre alone, his hand finds his way to the back of your neck, keeping you close, or heโll press his forehead to yours in a rare moment of calm. he likes keeping you near, close enough to feel the heat of his body and remind everyone around that youโre his. โeveryone should know,โ heโll growl quietly, as if making sure you both understand.
โคท oh beomseok
beomseokโs intimacy is thoughtful, like everything he does is carefully planned but done with so much heart. when youโre busy with something, heโll quietly move to help you, adjusting things around you, almost like heโs aware of every little thing you might need. he might hand you a pen without asking, or pass you your cup of coffee with a small smile, his voice soft when he says, โhere, thought you might need this.โ
he moves with purpose, as if savoring the moment. his touches are always deliberate but tender, like heโs afraid of being too forward, but he wants to be close to you, seeking your warmth. when youโre caught up in something, he might gently rest his head on your shoulder, leaning in just close enough to say, โdonโt stress too much. youโre doing great,โ his tone calm and reassuring. everything he does feels like itโs meant to take care of you in a way that makes you feel seen.
notes: ugh im so sorry i feel like i kinda lacked with beomseok or didnโt quite catch his vibe(?) itโs just been a while since weโve last seen him yk? ใ ใ hopefully this turned out alright ~

Pairing: Go Hyuntak x fem!reader
Summary: Having known of Hyuntak from his training days of Tae Kwon Do, you never thought you'd run into him again. What started as admiration from afar quickly turned into the beginning of something more.
Word count: 2.1k
A/N: Part 1 โ Part 2
Hyuntak first glanced down at your hand over his and you quickly backtracked, so he turned to face you properly, waiting for you to say something. Droplets of water fell from the front of his hair, and for a moment, you lost your train of thought, his handsome face captivating you for a second.
"Why don't you stay?" You swallowed hard, avoiding eye contact, nervously playing with your hands. "Just until the rain clears."
He didn't need to be told twice. You felt him pet your head again, and he smiled at you. "Okay."
You smiled back, relieved that he wouldn't have to go out into the rain again or leave so soon if you were being honest.
"I'll get us some towels. Come on in."
You kicked off your shoes and made your way to the bathroom cabinet where you kept the clean towels. You grabbed two and debated on whether or not to have him take a warm shower or just offer him some of your father's clothes while you put his in the dryer. When you came back, Hyuntak was looking at some family photos above the fireplace.
"Those are pretty old," you stated. "It's just me and my dad now. He's away on business and won't be back for a few days."
Offering him the towel, he took it, and to your surprise, covered your head with it. "Hey." You couldn't help but giggle as he playfully dried your hair, making it more of a mess than it already was. He settled the towel around the nape of your neck, looking down at you, a smile plastered on his face.
"You should take a warm bath." He said after a moment, taking the dry towel from your hands and working it through his hair.
"Don't you want to go first? I can bring you some fresh clothes."
"I'm fine. I've been through worse." Hearing how that sounded, he quickly added, "I'll take the new set of clothes, though."
You went to go find some extra sweats and t-shirts your father had, hoping they would fit. Hyuntak was taller and leaner than him. It's been a while since you were in your father's room, but you quickly found a pair of black sweatpants and a simple gray t-shirt. When you got back, Hyuntak held a new packet of underwear and socks he must have bought from the convenience store.
"Thanks." He said when you handed him the clothes. "I'll be quick."
You watched him as he went into the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Not letting your mind wander, you decided to keep yourself busy and clean the wet floor you both made. Afterward, you took out the other items he had bought from the bag. Medicine, more hand warmer pouches, and some sweets. You felt butterflies at his consideration.
It wasn't long when he emerged from the bathroom. The sweatpants fit him a bit too small, a few inches above his ankles showing, and the shirt was fit enough to show off his toned physique. Your eyes wandered to his hair, which was partially air dried, the front still looking a bit damp. Finally, you looked at his face, and you could have sworn he smirked at you.
"Your turn." He stated, breaking you of your trance.
Right. You nodded, setting the items down and going to gather your things for your shower.
โ
Hyuntak sat on your couch, hearing the shower begin to run. He felt much better knowing the hot water would be a nice contrast to the coldness you both had to endure. He got up and went into the kitchen to make something warm for the both of you. A quick look into your cabinets told him you weren't a fan of coffee. He found a can of hot chocolate and proceeded to look for two mugs.
As he waited for water to boil on the stove, he leaned his head back and sighed. What am I doing? He thought.
First, he offered to walk you home, and now he's at your house. If he wanted to keep you safe, it was best that he stayed away from you. He saw what happened with Baku and Baekjin. He went after the people he cared about most and almost got them all killed. Geom Seongje was still out there somewhere, so was he really willing to risk it with you?
She's safe with me.
That's what he told himself at least. That and the fact that he didn't want to be away from you. He wanted to be near you, to hear about your day and figure out what kind of person you were. Your likes and dislikes. Everything. Seeing you blush because of him was more than he could hope for.
Turning off the stove, he was careful not to spill the hot water as he poured it into the mugs. The aroma of the chocolate filled the air, and the steam of the drink felt good against his face. He set aside the drinks to cool and crossed his arms, leaning back against the counter. Closing his eyes, Hyuntak thought back to the first time he met you three years ago.
Sometimes, his training days would include going to different Tae Kwon Do studios after school. Because he had already been building up his reputation as an elite athlete, the other kids would freak out, trying to ask him questions or get an autograph. He was always told to just focus on his sparring and technique, not paying any mind to the other students.
As he was leaving practice that day, he noticed you in your own corner. You were trying to get the spinning hook kick down, unable to hit the mark your mentor held in place. He could tell you were frustrated, but your determination did not go unnoticed. He looked back at his team, telling them he would be right back.
Setting his duffle bag down, he stood behind you, trying to see your approach to the move.
"You're kicking too early." He said.
When you turned around, eyes meeting his, he began to feel different. Heat rose to his face, and his heart seemed to beat faster than normal, even after the cool down from his training. Taking in your pretty face, you looked to be about the same age. Your chocolate brown eyes widened, and he realized that he was the last person you'd expect to see.
Clearing his throat, he went on with his instructions. "Keep the kick small and not too wide, then hook at the last minute. Like this." He stepped away enough to show you how.
You slowly nodded your head, resuming your stance. He saw you take a deep breath and then go for it. The top of your foot hit its target with success. As the class cheered, you gave a short laugh of disbelief, grinning. He chuckled and clapped for you, too, enjoying the happiness radiating off of you.
"Thank you." You smiled, turning to bow at him before introducing yourself. "I'm y/n."
He bowed back. "I'm-"
"Hyuntak."
Opening his eyes, he turned around to see you standing in the living room. Your long black hair was tied up in a bun at the top of your head. He's only ever seen you in your uniform, both for school and Tae Kwon Do. Now you wore an oversized pink sweatshirt and matching sweatpants to go with it. You looked adorable.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, grabbing the mugs and walking towards you. Settling down on the floor and crossing his legs, he offered you one of the mugs.
Taking it, he tried not to show nerves as you sat down next to him, your shoulder brushing against his. "I'm better now, thanks."
Hyuntak watched as you took a sip, being careful not to burn yourself with the liquid. You sighed in satisfaction, licking your lips of the remaining trace. Not realizing he was staring a bit too long, you looked at him quizzically.
"What?"
"You're really cute." He smiled.
Heat rose to your face, and you turned away, your eyes landing on the hot chocolate. Hyuntak wasn't trying to embarrass you. He was simply stating a fact. A pretty face like yours was hard to forget, and he always looked forward to the day when he would see you again. It was quiet for a minute until you spoke up.
"What did you mean when you said 'it does now' two days ago," you said quietly, still not facing him. "You said that after the blonde guy told you the situation had nothing to do with you."
"Ah," He scoffed, annoyance crossing his features. "That idiot."
If it hadn't been for the other bully running after you, he would have killed him. He had managed to get a few good hits, but his blood still boils in anger when he thinks of the potential hurt he could have caused you. Hyuntak takes a breath, trying not to think about it.
Setting his drink down, he turned towards you. His hand gently came up to your chin, slowly making you face him. Your eyes told him you were anxious of what he might say next, so he tried to choose his next words carefully.
"Do you remember when we met?"
You nodded.
"You reminded me of what it was like to never give up. You were so determined to get the kick right, but one can only do so much alone. Sometimes, all it takes is a little help." The back of his thumb gently caressed your cheek.
"Now, as awesome as it was seeing you hit the guy in the balls," you both laughed at his choice of words, "you have to know that whenever you need help, that will include me. I want to be there for you."
He said it with such intensity, looking into your eyes, that you couldn't help but take his words for it. Who were you to not believe him? He watched as you placed your hand over his, taking it but still holding it against your face. Not letting it go, you held on as you said, "I want to be there for you, too."
Anticipation hung in the air, neither of you breaking eye contact. He could feel electricity run through his body at the touch of your hand, his heart beating fast at your words. Your hand felt warm, and he wondered if the callous on his bothered you. He also hadn't noticed you both had leaned towards each other until the sound of his ringtone caused the two of you to quickly move away.
Checking the caller i.d, it was Baku.
Hyuntak looked at you, "I'm sorry. I should probably take this."
"It's okay." You shook your head, leaning back and taking another sip of your drink.
He answered the call, trying to hide his irritation at his best friend's bad timing. "Hello?"
"Hey! The rain cleared up. We're at the basketball court and need you."
Looking at the time, he figured it was a good time as any to let you go about the rest of your day. He already inconvenienced you for about an hour.
"Okay, I'll be there soon." He hung up and turned to you. "I gotta go."
You watched him as he quickly downed the hot chocolate and set the mug on the table. He was confused when he saw you get up to leave, thinking he's upset you. Then you returned with his now dry clothes neatly folded atop one another.
"Thanks." He smiled. Shoving everything except his hoodie into his backpack, he made sure he had all his belongings before making his way to the front door. You followed, your arms crossed against your chest.
As he was shrugging into his hoodie, he asked you, "Are you okay with me walking you home again tomorrow?"
"Sure." You blushed. The rosy color on your cheeks made him smile. Slinging his backpack over his shoulders, he stepped down into the entrance and started putting on his sneakers one at a time.
"Also, I was thinking. How about you and I don't leave our next encounter to fate, hm?"
You arched a brow, "What do you mean?"
Hyuntak took out his phone and handed it over to you. Hesitating for a brief moment, you took his phone and typed in your contact info. You handed it back. His eyes flickered at you from under his eyelashes, pressing the call button on his phone. Your ringtone filled the house, and you scrambled to turn it off.
"Good to know it's not a bogus number." He laughed to himself at a memory.
You were puzzled at his words but decided it was better not to ask.
"I'll see you tomorrow then." He smiled, taking one last look at you before reaching for the door.
"See you tomorrow." You breathed, the feeling of butterflies in your stomach from earlier returning.
A/N: I should have mentioned this in the beginning, but I always pictured the story happening a few months after the events of whc2. The rest of the boys will appear again soon :)

summary: one winter weekend in your hometown brings a friendly face back in your life... but for how long? genre: fluff w/ angst ending; themes of longing, friends that were never more wc: roughly 1k
a/n: iโm such a fraud i should have finished this A LONG TIME AGO cause winter is โtis the damn season's season and now itโs spring but i procrastinated this ahhhh enjoy anyway also not proof-read
"We could call it even, even though I'm leaving, and I'll be yours for the weekend." โ tis the damn season, taylor swift
Time really is a funny thing. No matter how much of it passes, your hometown still feels the same as the day you left. The same beauty magazine subscription your mother has had since you were born arrives every Tuesday, the same sound of laughter reverberates from the park playground, and the same cashier greets you at the corner store, this time with a waddling toddler mimicking his every move.
Other things feel completely different. The steps to your childhood bedroom seem to creak a touch louder despite your absence, there are a few more streetlights on the route to the local high school, and the parking lots you spent hours idling in gossiping with your friends have been repaved.
You didn't expect that Trent would be the same, too. Well, maybe not exactly the same. You knew with certainty that he could never be yours, and that was an obvious change.
You first saw him on a Friday afternoon, ticking things off the list of errands your mother gave you.
The bouquet decorating the dining room table was wilting, so you find yourself in line at the flower shop to bring home a fresh batch to the house. Trent stands ahead of you in line and you peer forward at the bouquet in his hands. "When did you become a tulip kind of person?" There is a glint of humour in your question that you hope he can recognize.
Trent turns his head towards your voice with such force you feared it might detach from his shoulders. He whispers your name with a shocked expression on his face. "I can't believe you're back in town," he comments, shifting his weight on his feet in anticipation. "Were you missing it or somethin'?" The anxious movement makes your heart soften.
"Something like that," you smile. The holiday season always made you miss home, if you could still call it that. Home. A place you haven't been in years despite the way you searched for its comfort in every new city you lived in, the latest being Los Angeles.
โThought Iโd try something new,โ he explains, holding up the tulips in your line of sight. You take note of the dusty rose shade, the same shade you were always drawn to.
You mimic his movement and display the festive bouquet in hand. "The house needed some beauty," you comment.
Trent smiles, "Something to rival yours?" You relish in his flirtatious banter and return the smile.
By Saturday evening, you had caught him up on everything he missed.
"I wish you would have told me sooner, I was out there this summer!" Trent exclaims, pulling out his phone to share photos. Photos you had already seen from the peeks you take of his Instagram feed every now and then. The sheer joy on his face while he explored the city you knew like the back of your hand. A relaxed expression as he spent time with his brothers. It was your favourite version of Trent.
โThereโs always next time,โ you muse. Itโs a half-honest promise. A promise you make knowing that if both of you were in LA together, you wouldnโt be able to bear his inevitable departure. But the thought that he would want to see you in the very place that stole you from him was comforting.
You look out the window at the snow beginning to fall, paying it no mind. But it seems the longer you and Trent spoke, the heavier it fell and the poor visibility of the roads was concerning. You brush it off and attempt to walk to the door. His pull is gentle on your wrist. โYou canโt go with the roads looking like that,โ he warns.
You shrug at him, โThereโs not really another option, no?โ A smart option, you want to add but bite your tongue. One that wonโt make this feel wrong. "I could try my luck out there."
Your friendship with Trent teetered along the lines of more than friends countless times. But when you "ran away" (at least that's the way your mother described it), things were cemented; you and Trent would never be more. The semblance of belonging to each other remained, which landed you in this position.
A gust of wind echoes inside his home like a warning sign. โIโm not asking you to stay for long,โ Trent says in a pleading tone. โJust the night. Please.โ How could you say no with how he looked into your eyes?
On a gloomy Sunday morning, his arms were encircling your waist in the bed you have shared countless times.
Although the mattress is firmer than you remember, the pillows are a little softer, and have those curtains always been so beige? You let your eyes wander around the room in the morning light. Picture frames on the TV console that you didn't notice last night. A half-empty candle on the nightstand in a scent you wouldn't have expected Trent to enjoy. All signs that confirmed your beliefs about time.
The feeling of his chest pressed against your back was one of comfort and familiarity. His breath fanned against your neck and a slight snore could be heard from his lips. You fidgeted in his grasp to face him. Slowly, you brought your hands to his chest. You studied the way he exhaled. You commit it to memory as if this was the last time you would be in this position.
A soft sigh leaves your lips. Iโm leaving again. You want to give him a warning this time. But saying goodbye is always. harder than leaving. You slowly peel the sheets from your body, ridding yourself of the t-shirt Trent let you borrow and you know his scent lingers on your skin. The floor beneath you doesnโt let out a single creak as if it is in on your escape.
By the time Trent wakes, the side you once occupied is neatly made. He feels your absence like the closing credits to a movie. Painfully obvious but something he was expecting. He reaches for the crumpled receipt lying on your empty pillow, not even the indentation of your head remains. A receipt for his bouquet of flowers with only a sentence scribbled down:
Thank you for letting me be yours again, even just for the weekend.

Summary: When a fight breaks out in the bathroom, Y/N gets caught in the middle of it. When the eliminated players are announced, Dae-ho panics.
Requested: Yes
Squid Game Masterlist
The divide in the room was clear. Each side equal in terms of numbers yet Y/N could feel the murderous gazes from the โOโ side of the room. While others around her talked to one another, trying to ease some of the tension, Y/N sat on her own. She wasnโt too far away from the rest of the group but she was far enough away to be able to breathe.ย
For the entire duration of her time in the games, she didnโt have a single change to calm her body down. Even when she slept she was always on high alert. Taking a step away from everyone was what was best for her right nowโ especially when she needed to prepare to defend herself if it came to that. Y/N didnโt miss the way each player had received a glass bottle and a metal fork with their meal when they hadnโt before. Her fork was securely concealed in her jacket.ย
Y/N rested her head on the cool tile wall and sighed. The room seemed much larger now compared to when she had woken up only days agoโ though to her it seemed like weeks. There were only one hundred players left out of four hundred and fifty six and somehow Y/N was one of them. Though she might not have been if it wasnโt for one particular person.ย
Kang Dae-ho was someone Y/N never thought she would see in these games. They werenโt exactly friends before the games, only worked at the same part-time job. But seeing him was like a breath of fresh air. If it wasnโt for him, Y/N was sure that she would have been killed during the mingle game. The whole time, he had kept her hand firmly clasped in his. When the final round called for two players, he didnโt hesitate to pull her along to a room, pushing her in first before himself. The fear Y/N had felt during that gameโ if Dae-ho hadnโt been by her side she would have froze up and never left that rotating platform.ย
โY/N,โ a familiar voice called to her before she felt the warm and comforting presence sitting beside her. โWhat are you doing over here on your own?โ
Y/N opened her eyes, not realising she had closed them. โI needed to step away for a bit.โ
Dae-hoโs thigh pressed against hers. โTell me next time. I didnโt know where you went.โ
Y/N turned to him and offered him a small tight lipped smile. โIโm okay.โ
Dae-ho didnโt return her smile, already knowing that it wasnโt genuine. From where his hands were resting in his lap, Y/N watched as they twitchedโ hesitantly decided if they should reach out to her. Taking the initiative, Y/N held her hand out. A small flash of surprise appeared on Dae-hoโs face before he gently held her hand in his, linking their fingers together.ย
The corner of Y/Nโs lips tugged up in a smile as she rested her head against the cool tile wall. โI donโt think Iโve told you but Iโm glad youโre here. Well, not here exactlyโ but here with me. Seeing someone I recognised made me feelโฆsafer. So thank you.โ
Dae-hoโs gaze was fixated on their clasped hands. โDonโt thank me. Honestly seeing you here made me feel safer even though I hate that you are trapped here too.โ
โWe both made a stupid choice by phoning that number,โ Y/N said. โWhen we get out of here, letโs not phone any strange numbers in the future.โ
A quiet laugh emitted from Dae-ho and caused Y/N to smile. โAgreed.โ
A silence washed over them but it was comfortable and if Y/N closed her eyes, she could pretend that they were in the break room at their shitty job. Instead of bidding goodbye at the end of the day like she usually did, she would take the risk and ask him for dinner. Finally doing what her friend had demanded of her when she first started the job and asking her attractive coworker out.
โI need to go to the bathroom,โ Y/N said, standing to her feet, her hand slipping out of Dae-hoโs.ย
โIโll go with you,โ Dae-ho offered, quickly standing with her.ย
โTo the womenโs bathroom?โ Y/N asked, a soft chuckle leaving her lips.ย
For a short moment, Dae-ho seemed embarrassed but it quickly seemed to fade. โIโll keep watch outside.โ
A small genuine smile tugged at her lips as she rested her hands on his biceps. โIโll be fine. You donโt need to protect me, youโve done that enough already.โ
โIโm sorry,โ a woman a little older than Y/N said. Y/N glanced at the womanโs number. Player 91. โI overheard you going to the bathroom. We could go together, safety in numbers. I noticed some other women go there not too long ago.โ
Y/N turned her attention back to Dae-ho. โSee, Iโll be fine.โ
There seemed to be nothing that could convince Dae-ho but the moment she leant up and pressed a soft kiss against his cheek all rational thoughts swimming through his mind seemed to evaporate. Y/N laughed and gently trailed her hands down his arms to his hands, offering him a comforting squeeze. โIโll be fine.โ
Slowly, Dae-ho nodded. โBe safe.โ
As she took a step back from Dae-ho, he held onto her hands until she was too far to comfortably hold onto them. Y/N allowed her hands to slip from his but the moment his warmth fell away, she craved it once more. Y/N pushed her hands into the pockets of her jacket and offered Dae-ho one final parting smile before following the woman to the bathroom.ย
***
Y/N watched as the water dripped from her chin back into the sink as she sighed. She could only hope that not everyone was bright enough to realise they could freely harm anyone that opposes their vote and in the morning they would be able to vote and return home.ย
โSo you voted to return home?โ a woman said, approaching Y/N.ย
Y/N didnโt bother to look at the woman as she answered. โClearly, and anyone with a few brain cells would realise that is the best option for everyone here.โ
The woman hummed. โDidnโt you vote to continue the games during the first vote?โ
โI did,โ Y/N answered. โIt was a selfish decision and I regret it.โ
โWhat changed your mind?โ the woman questioned.ย
โAfter nearly dying during the second game, I realised that risking my life for money isnโt worth it,โ Y/N said, her grip tightening on the skin as Dae-hoโs face flushed in her mind.ย
During the six-legged pentathlon, their small group of five was already decided until Jun-hee came along asking to join their team. The moment she found out the younger girl was pregnant, Y/N didnโt hesitate to join another team.ย
Dae-ho insisted that he should be the one who left but Y/N refused and found another team, she was one of the first to complete it with one second to spare. For hours she had sat on her bed watching the door waiting for Dae-ho to enter, her anxiety rising when he never entered. When he finally did, Y/Nโs heart rate still refused to drop. From then she realised that no matter how much money she would get if she continued to play, it wasnโt worth nearly losing Dae-ho and the other friends she had made. But just the thought of losing Dae-ho sent Y/N into a panic she didnโt see coming.ย
โSo those who died during those games didnโt matter to you? Only your life matters?โ the woman said, continuing to pester Y/N.ย
Finally Y/N turned and faced the woman. โRealistically those people would have died anyway. If I wasnโt in these games then nothing would change, someone else would be here in my place and everything would turn out exactly the same.โ Y/N glanced at the blue patch on the womanโs jacket. โSeems like you donโt seem to care if people die or not considering you are too fucking selfish and you want more money.โ
โCareful how you speak to me,โ the woman said. โOnce all of you who voted to leave are gone, us who voted to stay will each have over 800 million won each.โ Slowly, the woman raised her hand, a silver fork shining in the dim lighting. The fork was pressedย against Y/Nโs neck as she looked at the woman standing before her. Despite the situation, Y/N didnโt feel intimidated by the women at all, she was shorter andย was physically weaker than Y/N.ย
โIโm only going to say this once,โ the woman said, lowering her voice. โChange your vote, continue the games. If you do, I will make sure you get through to the end and get your share of the money.โ
No matter how hard she tried, Y/N failed to contain the laughter that slipped past her lips. โIโd believe it if you werenโt threatening me right now. How am I meant to believe you wonโt backstab me in the next game?โ
The fork was pressed deeper against her neck and Y/N winced. โYou need to trust me,โ the woman said.ย
โTrust a woman who is one movement away from plunging a damn fork into my neck? I think Iโll naively believe that someone will come to their senses and change their vote by morning,โ Y/N replied. โNow take that fork away from my neck.โ
โOr what?โ the woman asked, an unhinged smile spreading across her face.ย
โThe group that voted to stay are currently outnumbered in this bathroom, five to nine. If you fight, youโll be overpowered,โ Y/N answered as the two other women who voted to stay slowly walked up to join the quiet altercation.ย
โYouโll never win,โ the woman said, the fork leaving Y/Nโs neck. โWe may be outnumbered but you have more elders on yours, one punch to the head and theyโll be out cold.โ
As Y/N glanced around at the other women in the bathroom, she noticed that most of them were older and looked as if they could not handle themselves in a fight. Y/N sighed. โDo you really care about getting a bit of extra money? If we vote to leave now we still each get a large amount of money. What if you die in the next game? Your last thoughts will be โwhy didnโt I leave when I had the chance?โโ
โYou donโt know a thing about me!โ the woman exclaimed.ย
Y/N rolled her eyes and turned back to the sink. โI know that youโre an idiot if you chose to stay in this hellhole.โ
The woman didnโt respond verbally. Instead she gripped the back of Y/Nโs jacket, yanking her away from the sink. As Y/N stumbled on her feet, the woman sent a punch to her jaw, knocking off her balance completely.ย
The moment Y/Nโs back hit the floor, hell broke loose as people began fighting one another. It was just as the woman said, there were a lot more women who were physically weaker on Y/Nโs side. Almost immediately Y/N watched as a few of them had already hit the floor, a pool of blood forming below them. Y/N didnโt take long to get back to her feet. Y/N wasnโt a particular skilled fighter, she had learnt basic self defense and had never had a reason to use it. Just as Y/N thought, the woman was physically weaker than Y/N as she easily overpowered the woman, gripping tightly onto her hair.ย
โJust vote to leave!โ Y/N yelled. โHow stupid can fifty people be?โ
The woman struggled to get out of Y/Nโs grip. โIโll vote to leave when all of you are dead!โ she snapped.ย
Y/N held tightly onto the womanโs hair as she threw her down on the floor. Before Y/N could think, she grabbed the fork concealed in her pocket and jammed it into the womanโs shoulder. The womanโs eyes widened as she cried out in pain. Y/N yanked the fork out and stood to her feet. There were still others fighting around her yet all she could do was stare down at the woman on the floor. Y/N hadnโt killed her, only injured her, yet she still felt the guilt of that weigh heavily on her shoulders.ย
Before Y/N could even think about moving there was a force that sent her to the ground and she scrambled to get away before a force was pressed upon her body and she was harshly turned on her back. A more muscular woman sent a punch to her face before Y/N even had the chance to block it. With her vision blurry, Y/N failed to see the fork slamming down at full force towards her.ย
***
Dae-ho sat looking in the direction where Y/N had left with the other woman to go to the bathroom anxiously shaking his leg. There was something clawing inside of him that told him that something bad was going to happen. Of course he had noticed the forks everyone had been given and Gi-hun had only solidified Dae-hoโs beliefs that it wasnโt unintentional.ย
Y/N had been gone for a while and it took Jung-bae forcing Dae-ho to remain seated instead of storming after her.ย
โI never asked,โ Jung-bae spoke, noticing that Dae-ho became considerably more anxious, โhow do you know Y/N?โ
โWe work together,โ Dae-ho answered, not tearing his eyes from where she had disappeared. โItโs a shitty part time job but that's all that would hire me. I donโt know why she is still thereโ she has so much potential.โ
Jung-bae hummed. โIt seems as if you admire Y/N a lot.โ
โI do,โ Dae-ho said with no hesitation. โBefore now, we only ever spoke at work, but she was always so nice and friendly to me. I watched her interact with customers too and she always greets them with a smile and tries to make them smile. Afterwards I would always find her in the break room exhausted but she would always sit and talk to me if I was on my break. Once she shared that she wished to become an artist but her parents told her that it wasnโt a sustainable career so she gave up.โ
โIt sounds like a lot more than admiration you have for her,โ Jung-bae teased.ย
Dae-ho quickly shook his head. โNo, it's not anything like what youโre thinking of.โ
โHow about I ask Y/N when she comes back?โ Jung-bae suggested.ย
โNo!โ Dae-ho exclaimed, causing Jung-bae to laugh. Dae-ho sighed. โOkay, maybe it is like that.โ
โThe following players have been eliminated,โ the cheerful voice sounded throughout the room.ย
Dae-hoโs heart instantly dropped to the floor as he looked at Jung-bae, fear coursing through his veins.ย
โPlayer 201. Player 449. Player 091โโ
โThatโs the player who went with Y/N,โ Dae-ho said, fear evident in his tone.ย
The players entered the room one by one and Dae-hoโs heart rate increased. From the looks of things, it wasnโt only the women who had gotten into a fight in the bathroom as the men walked out too, blood covering each and every one of them. The cheerful voice continued to list the numbers of the players who had been eliminated and Dae-hoโs fear rose after each and every one. He should have somehow gone with her to make sure that she was okay.ย
The voice stopped listing off the eliminated players just as Y/N stepped into the room, the guard closing the door behind her. Blood covered her neck and stained her jacket. Smeared blood covered her hands too as she slowly stepped further into the room shaken up.ย
โCount your players!โย
The room immediately broke into chaos as each side counted their players and how many each side lost. Dae-ho didnโt care as he ran over to Y/N.ย
โAre you okay? What happened?โ He asked, looking at the injury on her neck.ย
โThey attacked us,โ Y/N muttered. โI didnโt want to hurt them but I did.โ
Slowly, Dae-ho reached forward until he held his hands in front of hers. Without thought, she held onto them tightly as if grounding herself.ย
โThey attacked you first, you were only defending yourself,โ Dae-ho reassured.ย
Y/N slowly looked up at him. โI know butโโ
โBut nothing,โ Dae-ho said, slowly pulling Y/N closer to where the rest of the group were standing.
Y/N nodded, squeezing his hands once more. โCan we sit down somewhere?โ
Dae-ho gently guided her over to where Gi-hun and the others were sitting as someone counted how many of the whole group there was. Dae-ho gestured for Y/N to sit down first before he sat down next to her, his arm wrapping protectively around her waist, her body leaning closer to him.ย
โWhat happened to your neck?โ Dae-ho questioned looking at the long scratches down the back of her neck that ventured under her collar.ย
โIt happened just before the guards came in to break up the fight,โ Y/N muttered, her hand seeking out Dae-hoโs. โIf they didnโt come in that second, Iโm sure that woman would have finished me off.โ
Dae-ho noticed the distant look in her eyes and squeezed her hand to snap her out of it. โHey, I know itโs hard but try not to think about that right now.โ
โWhat else is there to think about?โ Y/N replied, her voice sounding exhausted.ย
Dae-ho shrugged, his thumb gliding across her knuckles. โOur job?โ
โI nearly died and your response is to talk about our shitty job?โ Y/N said.ย
โYouโre talking about it though,โ Dae-ho muttered. โAnd I was going to ask you, what will you do when you get out of here? You canโt stay in that job for the rest of your life.โ
โPay off my debts,โ Y/N answered. โAfter that, I honestly donโt know.โ
โYou wanted to become an artist, why donโt you start there?โ Dae-ho suggested.ย
Y/N looked at him, disbelief clear in her eyes. โYou remember that conversation?โ
โOf course,โ Dae-ho replied. Y/N looked at himโ really looked at him. The look immediately made Dae-ho heat up under his collar.ย
โI didnโt think anyone really listened when I talked about what I am passionate about,โ Y/N admitted.ย
โI listened,โ Dae-ho replied.ย
โWhy have we never spoken outside of work?โ Y/N asked.
โProbably because we both hate our job and pretend that it doesnโt exist once our shift is over,โ Dae-ho replied.ย
A soft huff of laughter left Y/N and Dae-ho couldnโt stop the way his heart lifted at the sound.ย
โThat is true,โ she said. โHow about when we get out of here, we change that? This definitely isnโt the place or time to say this, but I have liked spending time with you and you have honestly saved me so many times and made this whole thing even the slightest bit bearable. So when we get out of here, why donโt we go for dinner? Iโll pay, itโs the least I can do.โ
A wide grin formed on Dae-hoโs face as he nodded. โThat would be nice.โ
Y/N gave him a smile in return before she rested her head on his shoulder, relaxing her body into his side. The gentle grip he had on her waist tightened as he pulled her closer to his body. While Gi-hun spoke to the group in a hushed tone, Dae-ho only remained half listening as he held onto Y/N. A new sense of survival overcame himโ he would get him and Y/N out no matter what.ย
Omg the Ahn Sooho fic got me in shambles AJHSJQHSJQHA can I request another one too? ๐๐ Thank you!
Lean On Me | Sooho
- afab! reader. thank you anon! โก
Ahn Sooho. He wasn't someone unpopular. In fact, a lot of girls had a crush on him, but he was just too busy to accept anyone. At first, he could barely accept Sieun into his busy life. Sooho had always been everyones guardian angel. Always protecting the weak against the strong, making sure the strong didn't hurt the weak, and always making sure no one went too far.
It was a usual day, seven in the morning. You walked into the class as you saw Sieun, already seated with his airpods in, and books neatly placed in front of him. He gave you a kind of nod as you smiled back at him. You weren't technically friends nor classmates, but his friendship with Sooho had made the both of you acquaintances of some sort.
You walked to the back of the class as you quietly pulled the chair near Sooho's desk as you sat behind the three tables the boy had pulled together to make a makeshift bed. You unzipped your bag as quietly as you could, partly because you didn't want to disturb Sooho and entirely because you didn't want to disturb Sieun, feeling kind of intimidated by his silent stare if you disturbed him. You took out a small blanket, putting it over his sleeping body as you patted his head softly. You felt bad that he had to sleep at school because he had to juggle so many part-time jobs just to make sure he could get through high school and support his grandmother at the same time.
You watched as his eyelashes fluttered, and his chest rose and dipped with each deep breath he took. You weren't in his class, but you made lunch for him every day, not wanting him to miss his meals or work on an empty stomach. You didn't mind that it took you two more hours than usual to prepare lunch, as long as Sooho wouldn't fall sick and you wouldn't have to worry.
Most people would say that the both of you were like married couples. You'd prepare him lunch, and he'd send you to your after-school activities, and you had no complaints against it. Sooho didn't like feeling like he owed people, so that was the least you could let him do.
Sooho stirred in his sleep as the sun rose higher, the sunshine shining directly into the classroom, hitting his face, although you tried your best to shield his eyes from the light. Sooho opened his eyes as he saw you, waiting for him as per usual, as he sat up and yawned. He stretched his arms as he turned to you with a smile on his face, saluting.
"Good Morning Mrs Ahn!" Sooho announced, not feeling a single hint of embarassment as your cheeks still grew red from the nickname.
Sooho was sure. He was sure you're the one for him. He'd give up everything, including himself, for you. It didn't take a genius to notice your affect on him, and even his grandmother was proud of the changes he had in his life.
"Mr Ahn, this is your meal for the day. Don't forget to eat or I'll get mad!" You teased back as you picked up your bag, passing him the metal lunchbox, about to leave as per usual but Sooho stopped you.
"I'll send you to your class," Sooho said with a grin as he took your bag from your grip and slung it over his shoulder, taking your hand in his free hand as he dragged you out the classroom.
It had become a natural occurrence for the students at school to see Sooho dragging you around, clinging onto you to spend every free second he had with you. Sooho happily chattered on about what he had done over the weekend, talking about how after work, he had treated his grandmother to a meal.
"I brought grandma to have a meal, my treat, but she asked me where you were at! I think she loves you more than me!" Sooho whined as you couldn't help but laugh at his childishness, looking at him as you couldn't help but feel yourself hiccup as the sun seemed to compliment his looks just a little bit more than usual. You crossed your arms as you responded teasingly, "Oh well, I guess I'm her favourite now!".
Sooho feigned shock as he covered his mouth with both his hands, eyes widened as he held your bag up high. You gasped in false shock as you poked his side, causing him to flinch as he instinctively brought your bag lower, allowing you to grab it with ease.
"I know you too well Mr Ahn! See you later!" You smiled at Sooho as you were about to walk into your class, the boy already walking away.
"Don't fall asleep in class! Atleast try to listen!" You yelled as Sooho held a thumbs up, not turning as he skipped back to his class.
Class wasn't the best part of school, but you knew that if you wanted a future with Sooho, at least one of you had to have a certification higher than a diploma.
Lunch was definitely the best part of school. You walked to the cafeteria as you grabbed a tray, picking the food you wanted from the school buffet as you walked to the pay line but was bumped into by one of the ugly looking guys from Class 3, who had way too much confidence.
"I know I'm good looking, but should Ahn Sooho's girlfriend really be trying to get comfy with me?" The brocolli-haired, short and lumpy, big mouthed guy joked as you looked at him in absolute disgust. Was he serious?
"I'm sorry, but you bumped into me. I have no interest in you whatsoever, so please let me pay for my food," You answered calmly as you tried to move past him but was blocked once again by the ogre look-alike.
"Just because you're dating Ahn Sooho, you think you're a big deal? You ought to know how to behave!" The guy said, clearly irked as he raised his hand.
Instinctively, you closed your eyes, ready to take the hit, but it never came. You opened your eyes to see the familiar red jacket wearing man in front of you. Sooho held the guy's hand as he twisted it, slightly, just to get a yelp from him as he moved closer to him.
"I didn't think you'd stoop so low to the point you'd hit a woman, more so my woman, so screw off. You're not a delinquent. You're just a fool." Sooho said as he released his hold on the guy's arm as he ran out of the cafeteria, feeling intimidated by Sooho's little speech.
Sooho turned to you as he held your shoulders, bending down slightly to be face to face with you, "Are you alright? You must've been scared. "
You nodded as Sooho couldn't help but pat your head, smiling.
"I'll always save you, don't worry. Let's go eat, I'm hungry!" Sooho reassured you as he slung an arm over your shoulder, leading you to the now 'safe' pay line.
You sat down with Sooho at your usual table as you watched Sooho eat, scooping from the mountain of rice on his tray and stuffing it into his mouth, not forgetting to pick up meat right after.
"How are you always stuffing your face, but you never choke?" A voice asked as Sieun took a seat next to you, across the empty seat on Sooho's right.
"The art of devouring is not something easily learned, top student of the country," Sooho announced as if he was an emperor from the Joseon period as he raised his head proudly.
You turned to Sieun as you ignored your boyfriend's strange antics, "I heard you got called to the office just now".
"It's because of the new student, Oh Beomseok. We went out with him, and stuff happened. it's alright." Sieun responded short as he dug into his normal portioned food.
You watched as Sooho finished the entire plate of food, not leaving a single crumb. You were satisfied that at least in between Sooho's crazy schedule, he could at least eat a normal school lunch and talk to his friends.
Sooho sat on his motorbike as he had your bag slung in front of him, the brightly coloured bag standing out as compared to his black coloured bag behind it. He had two bags slung in front on purpose, so you could lean onto him comfortably, but he'd never admit that.
"Let's go, or you'll be late to your calligraphy class and then Miss So will be mad at me," Sooho made a sad face as you chuckled at the boy's 'TT' pose under his eyes.
Miss So was your calligraphy teacher, and she taught you calligraphy one-on-one, due to the fact that you were further ahead and way more advanced that the other students who had just joined, unlike you who had been doing calligraphy for years. She had taken a liking for the boy, at her age of 72, she said that 'he's a good boy, and the both of you compliment each other'.
You got onto the motorbike as you wrapped your arms around his waist, feeling the sythethic material against your arm as your back was on your boyfriend's chest. Sooho smiled, his cheekbones high as he revved the engine.
"Let's go, Mrs Ahn!" Sooho announced as he drove the motorbike down the hill. It was your favourite part of the whole ride. The helmet shielded your face from the wind as the both of you went down the hill from the gate, the crowd of students walking slowly down the pavement.
Sooho, and you always joked that once the both of you get married, he'll have to get a car licence, or else, there'll be nowhere for your child to sit. Sooho never told anyone but his grandmother, but he never thought of a future without you. Never in his wildest dreams did he think of a time when he'd leave you or you'd leave him. He was working for not only his own future or his grandma's happiness, but also your future together with his. He needed that diploma to get a good job, or at least continue to college so he can support your family in the future.
"You arrived!" The voice of an old lady could be heard as the door of the old style house, that still seemed expensive, slid open, revealing Miss So waiting for you.
"Sorry, did I keep you waiting?" You asked as you got off the motorbike, Sooho's arms around your waist as he helped you off, avoiding the hot exhaust.
"No no, you didn't! Sooho brought you here safe right? Or should I make him write a thousand characters?" Miss So joked as Sooho held a hand to his chest, feigning offence at her words.
"Miss So! I bring my girlfriend safe everywhere! I'm a very good driver and if she got injured, I'll get injured too!" Sooho said as he covered his face, acting as if he was crying into his hands.
"You're a big baby even after you've dated for so many years. Come on, let's start class before your boyfriend clings onto you and won't let you go," Miss So teased as you couldn't help but laugh at her words, turning to see Sooho sulking.
"I'll be right back. Be careful at work!" You waved at the boy as Sooho waved back, putting on his own helmet as he drove off to his part time job.
Sooho didn't expect that what had happened to him, Sieun and Beomseok, would come back to bite him in the ass so fast, but it did.
He was eating the lunch you had packed him in the metal lunch box, in the delivery riders room, watching a video on his phone as he heard a group of high school 'delinquents' walking outside with baseball bats, muttering.
"We're going to teach him a lesson. How dare he report us to the bullying committee? Now, Soo Wong is mad at us, and now we have to do his dirty work. What a cheap," one of the bigger sized boys muttered as they walked in the direction of the back alley.
Sooho never got involved unless needed, but this was a group of close to fifteen boys, and from what he heard, against one? If that boy reported them to the bullying committee, he's a goner.
Sooho tried to forget about it, not wanting to care. He scooped the rice with spam into his mouth, focusing on the food you had packed with your love along with it. He raised the volume of the video, trying to block out all his thoughts, but somehow, it kept repeating in his head. Sooho got up with a loud groan, huffing as he packed his bag and clocked out, walking out of the staff room as he made his way to the back alley.
"Miss So, I'm going to the bathroom for a while," you told your teacher, who was looking at your current piece. Miss So nodded as you swiftly left the class, feeling the stomach ache beginning to creep in. You placed your arms on your stomach as you ran to the bathroom.
It wasn't a good time in there, at all. You got back into the classroom as Miss So looked at you with a worried expression.
"If you're not feeling well, go home! Did you not eat today? I'm telling Sooho if you skip your meals!" Miss So scolded you as you shook your head, grabbing your bag, packing your brushes and paper into your bag as you told Miss So, "I'm going home, I'm so sorry that we had to cut the lesson short! I promise I'll make up for it!".
Miss So shook her head with a smile as you left building, making a turn to Sooho's workplace. You couldn't just leave without telling Sooho, or he'd frantically call you or knock on your door like a maniac after work.
"What the hell...?" You muttered as you peered into the staff room of his workplace to find it empty. Sooho abandoning work? Did something happen?
You couldn't imagine what could've happened to make him abandon work. Was he in danger?
Sooho was up against four guys. The boy they attacked looked half beaten to death. His white uniform was coloured red as his bag was unzipped. It wasn't hard to fight all of them at once, but seeing as one of them looked quite strong, he wasn't sure.
Sooho charged at the first guy, kicking him behind the knee as the boy toppled down instinctively, giving Sooho the chance to land a kick on his side, sending him into the wall. The second guy ran up to him as Sooho saw his right shoulder move, making him dodge to the right as he ended up behind the boy. Sooho landed a kick on his back, sending him forward as his chin landed on the rough floor, enough to have him groaning in pain from the friction. The third guy played dirty as he threw his blazer onto Sooho, trying to block his sight, but sooho knew better as he charged straight into the boy, knocking him with his head as the boy stumbled backwards, giving Sooho the chance to land a punch on him multiple times.
Sooho was too distracted, not noticing the fourth boy already behind him, grabbing him into a headlock as Sooho was pulled backwards. Sooho would pass out at that rate, his vision slowly dotting as he struggled against the guy's strong grip.
A bag flew into the boy's head as Sooho was released from his grip. Sooho turned to see you standing, heaving as you just threw your heavy bag at someone. Sooho stood up as he dusted his hands.
"Looks like my girlfriend is here! Can't leave her waiting! You should all repent for your crimes, it's not good to bully people," Sooho stated, half sarcastic. Sooho picked up your bag and his bag as he turned to the boy who had just been beaten by the bullies, "You should get out of here and report them again. If they still bully you, ask this pretty lady to help you".
The both of you walked back to Sooho's workplace as he turned to you, "Why did you do that? What if they changed their target to you? What would I have done then? That was dangerous. Don't do that again. I'll be the hero, and you can be my pretty girlfriend. "
You raised an eyebrow as you responded, " You shouldn't have to save everyone. If you're saving everyone, who's your hero? Then, I'll be your hero. I'll always take care of you so you can take care of everyone".
You smiled at Sooho as the boy felt like he had just fallen in love with you all over again. It felt like the time when you both confessed again, he was down on his knees for you, and his heart was yours.
"Then I can be your hero, and you'll be mine."
