Zuko, slipping on the Blue Spirit mask: I'm going out. If I don't come back, I want you to avenge my death. Kiyi: Okay!
mako isnโt particularly one of my favorites and i like making fun of him just for shits and giggles but nobody can make me genuinely hate him. barely anyone in this fandom understands his character and why he is the way he is
the entire comic could have been compete and utter shit and i still would have loved it specially for this scene
this is literally everything i needed and wanted from a mako comic and they absolutely delivered
Neither of them are actually very objected to the idea
i love azula but if her stans love her too then at least actually like her canon character yk ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
I wonder when the inept Azula stans will realize that this innocent, sweet, caring young Azula โbefore she was corruptedโ doesnโt exist and was never canon. She was not once shown to be some perfect child that got turned bad by Ozai (or Ursa? because people still think she did it? Somehow?). There was never a moment where she was purely friends with Ty Lee or Mai without an ulterior motive.
And no this isnโt saying she was โborn evilโ or that she has no chance of not being that ever, but more that those tendencies to be manipulative/selfish/cruel have always been there and that she was constantly exposed to an environment that brought out and encouraged those tendencies rather than teaching her to know better.
Ashes of the Academy does not change that. If anything, Ursaโs fear towards the academy being Azulaโs downfall shows that she does NOT think her daughter was just โborn evilโ or anything like that. Again, nothing in the show, the books, or any of the comics infers that Azula was ever not like how she currently is because her environment and influences were consistent from the day she was born.
Too many people want to just say one singular person or thing is at fault for Azula being the way she is, and all of them are wrong. Itโs a combination of her extremely manipulative and evil father, living in a country that was upholding the ideals of her father, her mother being largely unable to connect with her, and her status allowing her to get away with her worst tendencies unchecked. Stop reducing the characters you like into a checklist of one-dimensional traits and backstories and you may find them more interesting.
The Avatar fandom is always saying that if we get a continuation after Korra they hope we get to see more complex and flawed characters because atla and lok lacked them
Well I don't want that because y'all can't even handle the ones you were already given
ATLA fandom: Aang tried to force his ideals on Katara and stop her from confronting her motherโs killer.
ATLA episode transcript:ย Katara: Donโt try to stop us. Aang: I wasnโt planning to. This is a journey you need to take. You need to face this man.ย But when you do, please donโt choose revenge. Let your anger out, and then let it go. Forgive him.
Do you ever think Aang wakes and forgets he isn't a hundred years in the past...

I'm in my Maiko feels today, and I gotta say: we don't talk enough about the fact that Mai is too shy to say she loves Zuko to his face.
On The Headband she says "I don't hate you." On The Beach she says "I care about you." In the finale she says "I actually... kind of like you." The ONE time she full on says the word LOVE, is at The Boiling Rock, when she's talking to Azula.
She can call him her boyfriend, act flirty, make out at any time, say he ripped her heart out with the break up letter and jokingly "threaten" him to never do it again... but she just can't say "I love you." She literally started blushing when she tried in the finale, and couldn't get the right words out.
It's such a cute little detail. She's not used to expressing how she feels, so she doesn't know how or when she should say it.
She'll 100% just let it slip someday, in some casual conversation. Zuko is gonna stare at her all wide-eyed and happy, and she's just gonna feel her very soul screaming in agony and embarrassement.
