𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒐: "As High as Honor" 𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒍: is a sky-blue falcon soaring upwards, outlined against a white moon on a sky-blue field. 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒔: darker hair, lighter skin, and gray or darker eyes with strong Andal traits.
𝑯𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑨𝒓𝒓𝒚𝒏 𝒊𝒔 one of the Great noble Houses of the Seven Kingdoms. Their seat is the Eyrie - which is considered impregnable. Their other holding is their Winter castle; the Gates of the Moon (which was once their main seat).
Both castles are next to the Giant's Lance, the tallest mountain in the Vale with the Gates of the Moon in front and the Eyrie further back, nearing the top.
The Arryns have many distant relatives throughout the Vale. However, they are much poorer, the exception are the Arryns of Gulltown. An example is Petyr Baelish - although lesser they are still proud of their name and heritage.
The founder of House Arryn was Ser Artys Arryn, known as the Falcon Knight, and it was founded by the Coming of the Andals. King Roland I Arryn, the grandson of Ser Artys and fourth Arryn king, began the process of building the Eyrie.
The First Men who did not accept Artys as their king were forced into the Mountains of the Moon, becoming the Vale mountain clans.
During the Conquest, the Arryn and Targaryen fleets fought in a battle in the waters off Gulltown, which resulted in the destruction of the Targaryen fleet and the death of its commanding officer, Daemon Velaryon. Visenya Targaryen, on her dragon Vhagar, burned the Arryn fleet in response.
Visenya was tasked with securing the Vale. So, Visenya flew on Vhagar to obtain the surrender of the Vale of Arryn. When Sharra Arryn, the Queen Regent of the Vale, returned to the Eyrie she found her son sitting on Visenya's lap asking if he could ride the dragon with her. Once Sharra yielded and bent the knee, Ronnel flew twice with Visenya and Vhagar.
The Arryns have since remained Defenders of the Vale and Wardens of the East for the Iron Throne.
I see halla-coded Lavellans and wolf/predator-coded Lavellans everywhere — and I love them! I love all of you!
Today I wanna talk about shepherd-coded Lavellan. The one who wanders, guarding her flock. Because she has so many people she loves, and who love her in return, but they don't understand. Not the way she does, seeing what she has seen. Looking the Dread Wolf in his eyes, watching him turn away, every line of his form cusping on turning back, coming back, coming back.
They are her flock, and so she must tend to them. Not because the shepherd is worth more than the sheep, but because their roles are different. Without them, she would not be herself.
But no shepherd is a shepherd without the wolf, either. The shepherd may guard her flock, but that is not where her eye must remain more often than not.
Always, the shepherd must watch the shadowed treeline. Always, she must await the wolf. It is her purpose: to be of use to her sheep, she must turn away from them, again and again and again, to watch for the monstrous. To warn them away.
To convince the fanged beast, whether with word or weapon, not to attack.
To be the shepherd is to be the in-between, as inextricable from the flock as from the wolf. And, if she does her job well, the sheep will never understand why she watches for threats that never seem to befall them.
But the wolf—the wolf will always know.

The Last Kingdom / Season Four Episode Three
headcanoning war vet/night elf adaia with the line "[Adaia] wanted [Tabris] more than anything. It’s sad she never got to see you all grown up." and "Valendrian and [Duncan] have known each other for almost twenty years… since the time I tried to recruit your mother, in fact." [...] "I never made the offer. Valendrian convinced me that it was better for her to remain here with her family. As there was no Blight and thus no immediate need for recruits, I deferred to his wishes." really adds severe psychic damage of adaia simply wanting a peaceful life with her family after the war and im shattering like glass
As much as I usually prefer playing mages and elves… reading The World of Thedas vol 2 in preparation for a new playthrough is actually getting me hyped to play a Cousland.
Reading about my soon-to-be Amalthea Cousland’s parents is simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking:
Her mother, Teyrna Eleanor Cousland, was raised on the deck of a ship and was a fierce rebel raider known as the Seawolf during the time of the Orlesian occupation of Ferelden. After Maric retook Denerim and mobilized the northern banns to defend against Orlesian retaliation by sea, she met her future husband:
I considered the name Dane, from Fereldan legend, but I think Amalthea’s mabari will have to be named Mistral, after her mother’s ship.
After the war, when Bryce returned to Highever:
“Teyrn Bryce spent four months receiving oaths and taking possession of his ancestral home, and every day without fail he sent a letter to Lady Eleanor - sometimes more than one a day.”
The shanty in question:
I think that, even if this was something Eleanor “never shared with her children” they still learned about it from other sources. I have a feeling that a young Amalthea (or “Theo”) got in trouble when she learned the song and got caught belting it in the castle.
Years later, as Highever mobilized to assist King Cailan at Ostager, Theo would have a few notes stuck in her head, plaguing her as she couldn’t remember what song it was from… Until several weeks later, when she would hear the song played in a brothel in Denerim and the enormity of the loss of her family would finally hit her like a meteor.
The book has this to say in the section about Arl Rendon Howe:
Bryce was his friend during the rebellion against Orlais. They, along with their friend, Leonas Bryland, survived the massacre that was the Battle of White River together. Bryce was still his friend after Leonas cut contact with him. Bryce and Eleanor Cousland were at his wedding. They were the only people at his wedding. They were his friends.
They were his friends and he still slaughtered them.
I’m so unwell about this.
Look I get how important Shianni is to our Tabris wardens, but I never see people give Soris the attention he deserves. For example, the first thing my Tabris would have done upon hearing he was staying at her house would be to run there and give him a big hug. She felt like shit leaving him and Shianni there to deal with the fallout and hearing how he was treated would just make her feel compelled to apologize a thousand times. Shianni AND Soris were Tabris’ cousins; pls give the soft boy some love too

It's so weird talking to people who's view of "here's the way life is for everyone" is shattered as soon as they talk to someone with disabilities (physical, mental illness, any). Like you'll say you'll have a problem and instead of helping you they'll argue with you about how you're not actually facing that problem. Like,
Me: Hey, I'm really struggling to find a job and a part of it is my resume. I was depressed & psychotic during highschool so I didn't do anything to gain skills or achievements to put on my resume. I also don't have anyone to put as a reference. What can I do?
Them: You can add your skills, hobbies, clubs you're in, and different volunteer work you've done! You can also get your teacher as a reference.
Me: I already know what to put on a resume, my issue is that I don't have things that I can use. Also, I'm in my mid 20s so I don't know if I can put my highschool teacher as a reference.
Them: Well if you're a part of a church or an activity group, you could add that. Also, think of any projects you've worked on in the past.
Me: I already know you can put these things on a resume. I'm not looking for suggests of things I've already done, I'm looking for what I can do now if I haven't done anything.
Them: There's no way you didn't do anything during highschool?? What about some odd jobs you definitely did for extra money, like babysitting or mowing the lawn?
Me: I spent all of highschool either in modified classes or in bed doing nothing - not even hobbies, what about that do you not understand?
And then you talk to someone who's also disabled and they're like "Here's a bunch of jobs you can do from home that don't pay much but look good on a resume, here's some free online courses that also look good on a resume, here's how you can be making small amounts of money in the meantime, here's some things you can put besides a professional reference, and here are your rights if your future employer tries to take advantage of your disability - which you probably shouldn't tell them about unless you need accommodations."
And suddenly my will to continue trying returns!
