Okay, I need a bit of consistency in the comic, so I decided to just quickly sketch up a base idea of what each character (well the main three) should look like throughout. I'm still stuck on finding a good skin shade for Frisk. I know she's supposed to be dark skin, but I still want the hint of that yellow we see the original model have—gah! Maybe we should just forget about adding a hint of yellow and just keep her a very realistic human color? Is the color above realistic? I think it looks okay, but then I don't. I'm too indecisive. This will just have to be a future me problem.

Also! Drawing Sans sucks major balls. My brain wants to draw a skull, like a human skull, but you see, Sans does not have a human skull. He has a cartoon character skull—face actually because I swear to God, its just... I can't do what I did with Papyrus (God, I enjoy drawing Papyrus). We can't go all realistic for Sans otherwise he doesn't flipping look like Sans! He looks like some random skeleton unrelated to Undertale. He has this stupid peanut head that I just want to squeeze and watch it pop! Fuck Sans. Fuck Sans right to hell.

Wow, I feel so much better after getting that off my chest.

Anyway, I was going to include this whole explanation of how much I want the setting of the Underground to be super low income Americana, inner-city in some areas, rural trailer park in others, motel baby, RV vagabonds bumming gas from strangers, blah, blah, blah. Would this be moving far away from base Undertale? Sure, I guess. Yeah, maybe. Do people want to see me bring all my transgressive edgelord shit into a very unrelated franchise? I suppose that's a yes? I mean, I did a bit of that with Lugubriosity, but I'm talking about going all out with my art and this story. I've been holding back, trying to keep things to what people are used to? God, I don't know, but I really wanna explore more. I want to get dirty and grimy with my artwork, spread my fuzzy moth wings and tear into some old fabric in the nearest linen closet, you know, not so pretty.

Here are few inspirational pictures for what I mean:

I love it. I wanna draw it, write about it, just consume it in all my media. But is it appropriate for Undertale? Perhaps not. Perhaps so. I'm torn on what I want to do, and now I'm just ranting and rambling. Half of me wishes I just stuck to writing, but then another half really wants to see this story visualized.

I guess I should just get the rough draft done and see what happens next. I already butchered this beloved franchise so what's a little more? I'm curious if others care to see this in the story? Otherwise, I could just get super dark and dirty with an original idea whenever I get around to it.

So I know these posts are supposed to have 5 in them, but I got so cheeky with my art last night and this morning, that I'm gonna be a bit impatient with this one. Typical, huh?

Thoughts on the narrator? Is he too annoying? I feel like he's annoying.

Thanks so much for the encouraging words, and it did! I’m bursting with marketing ideas, and it’s honestly exciting, if not a bit scary. There’s a bunch of business shit I started this year, including the book I’m writing—which I have some interesting news about, so why not use this response to address it.

I’ve been weighing the pros and cons of connecting my author pen name to this account (or the fanfic account). The book will be out for ARC in July (if I stick to schedule) and published by late August. It will have a lot of the same elements I typically write about; a ton of body horror, monster men, and all the dramatic feels. Great, cool, but I’m aware that a lot of people who read fanfiction might not be interested in original fiction especially from a no name debut author. I was this way for a while until I rediscovered my love for book stores, found out there was a whole flipping genre of novels that had all the messed up stuff I like—told primarily by indie authors, and quickly became a book hoarder.

I say all that because I’m questioning if it would be worth it to “expose” my very spicy fanfiction to any future readers if those who enjoy the fanfics aren’t exactly the same audience who will enjoy my novels. Again, I’m using a pen name, and if the business goes well, I’ll be self employed, so I don’t really care too much about my personal life getting thrown in the mix. I guess I’m worried about not being taken seriously as an author, or who knows?

Bah! This is becoming a personal blog! I haven’t even posted the next page of Fawn, yet I’m doing a whole lotta venting. I might just share the novel regardless. I will need a few beta readers in June, so maybe Tumblr is a good place to find some?

I’ll gladly include the backstory for all three images for @alikthemurdercat! Which by the way, I want to thank you dearly for liking my posts and following my page. :)

This story starts with a young human woman named Laura who had recently moved from her grandparents home in the forest after she graduated with her nursing degree. Laura was only on her second day at the job when she was given a strange patient; a skeleton monster who had recently been arrested for getting into a physical altercation with his now ex girlfriend which resulted in a few minor injuries for him. Not so much for his ex girlfriend. Such a thing shouldn’t result in an assailant in custody dodging a holding cell for a hospital bed, but this skeleton was the brother of the newly elected governor, and that came with its perks. He was quite, but watched her with a smile.

Laura wouldn’t know better at the time, having no clue about his arrest as he was not handcuffed. So as she tried to remember what the seasoned nurse she was to shadow instructed of her—said nurse was off taking care of another patient as the hospital was severely understaffed—the skeleton man took a bite out of her hand out of seemingly nowhere.

Laura passed out.

she woke up two weeks later with a missing hand, and absolutely no idea what caused it. Her grandfather and a doctor appear shortly afterwards. She’s told she can soon head home, back in the forest, with her grandparents. As the two walk away, Laura over hears their conversation and discovers that while she lost consciousness, she was also raped, and the skeleton monster had gone missing. Unfortunately, the police weren’t making much of an effort to relocate him—likely due to his relationship with the governor.

As Laura and her grandfather drive home he tells her that her grandmother has a very special surprise waiting for her, and that despite her missing hand she is still as abled as anyone else. They will get through this together, he promises. She would just need to learn to give a mean knuckle sandwich with the other hand. Laura oddly feels nothing towards his words, nor her missing hand. She stays quiet as they make it higher up the mountain.

When they arrive at the cabin, it’s oddly quiet. Her grandfather makes note that all the lights are off and there is no smoke in the chimney. He calls for their German Shepherd who would often rush out the doggy door to greet him. No one comes. Her grandfather tells her to stay in the car as he goes to investigate, and Laura does just that.

She waits, and waits, and waits, but her grandfather doesn’t return.

It starts to get cold and unfortunately he took the keys with him to open the front door. Laura has no choice but to get out and go inside. As she climbs the porch, and opens the door, she finds the family dog lifeless by the mangled corpse of her grandmother. In the corner is a creature hunched over her disemboweled grandfather stuffing his face full of what was once a very kind man.

Laura runs, the creature follows. She makes it to the depths of the forest, too petrified to look back, but knowing it’s close by the rustle of the flora around them. There’s the shine of headlights in the distance. Laura screams, she trips, she tumbles. The creature lands on top of her, and as it sprays her family’s blood on her face, she is reminded of the skeleton monster in the hospital bed. She recognizes him completely despite his more disheveled look, and the loss of light in his sockets.

As she prepares to meet her grandparents in the afterlife, a shot goes off. It gets the monster at the tips of its skull which rains shards on her bloody face, and sends it running away in retreat. Laura can hardly move when a stranger enters her blurred vision. He offers her a hand to help her off the moist forest ground, and as she reaches up to grab it, she notices that it too is just pure bone.

Okay, so this is getting long winded, lol. I’ll need to add onto this to explain who that human man is in pic two, and also what the hell is going on in pic one.

As I was going through old files, I found a lot of the artwork I've done for Undertale rps back on Discord. Man, weren't those crazy times that I miss dearly. Unfortunately, those serves no longer exist, so now these images only live on in folders on my computer.

I thought I'd share some with you to change that.

These are only three of many. A lot of the artwork wouldn't make much sense without context, but that's okay. If anyone would care to hear backstories of roleplay that only mattered to a group of 4, I'd definitely get long winded with you and share EVERYTHING--or at least that which I remember.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little piece of a time gone.

We are finally getting started on the comic! Long time coming.

For those interested, the page dimensions are 6''x9'' inches with about a 0.5-inch border. This is standard sizing for a printed trade book. We can play around with different dimensions for spreads (likely 12''x9'' inches). Tumblr appears to favor print sizes over the typical webcomic scroll.

Any thoughts on the font used so far? On the page layout? I likely will not include comic sans/papyrus typefaces when the skeleton brothers are talking, though I am on the fence about this. I think it could either be a visual mess or a fun little nod to the game.

Congratulations Frisk C! The people have spoken and you have been chosen. I think she will be my favorite Frisk to draw as designing this piece was so much fun. She's pretty, she's cute, she's pretty cute and now I only want the absolute best for her.

Post #14 - The Faces of Frisk

I went to my first convention this past weekend. It was definitely an experience seeing people in cosplay in real life—I even dared to dress up. While there, I came across so much inspiration for my art that sparks flew through my brain. It was definitely a much-needed trip.

So enough of that! I have finally gotten around to sketching out different ideas for Frisk. These are just rough drafts that mainly play around with hairstyles, (she will still wear the signature bangs and bob. Option B is simply my fun little way of showing her face) and skin shades. I'm open to keeping her a Simpsons yellow too so anyone can easily see themselves in her—or maybe not considering her circumstances lol!

Either way, I think it would be fun to vote on it! (once I figure out how to create a poll, that is).

The previous poll appears to be neck and neck with a suggested AU and an original AU (based on the comments and the poll numbers). We will create from scratch to keep things simple while heavily referencing Underfell, that way we are technically doing both options. Below are the results.

Edit: I’m stupid, all I had to do was edit this post to get a poll in—not create a whole new one. Hahaha…

Will Chara play a more crucial role in Frisk's survival than just the seemingly split personality that took charge when Frisk felt overwhelmed by the assaults she was receiving?

You know, I’m not sure what to do with Chara. On one hand, I found the split personality had contributed to a lot of major plot points, mainly related to Toriel, but I also feel like Chara could do more. I have been debating on whether or not to change her backstory (again, I guess that would rely on the AU). Should she be removed altogether?

Maybe Chara was a victim of CSA and it contributed to her death, so as a result she returned as a spirit guide for Frisk? Maybe she isn’t dead at all, (nor is Asriel) and instead she’s a princess locked away in a tower because Asgore doesn’t want to kill her for her soul and he doesn’t want the rest of monsterkind to attempt it? But then we must ask the question of how the monsters were trapped in the first place, and why Toriel ran away (though, she was being abused by Asgore in Lugubriousity, but I doubt she is the type of mother who would leave that situation if she was unable to take her children with her)? Perhaps Chara (and Asriel) do live with Toriel and Asgore simply believes his family is dead?

I definitely want to do more with Chara, I simply need to figure out how to iron out the details. I’d love some suggestions if you have any. They honestly help tremendously.

Frisk was pretty clueless in Lugubriosity. Some of that naivety came from being a child, and some from memory loss. Without her knowledge of the past RESETs, Frisk was literally thrown into a world of the unknown. What are your opinions on Frisk being left in the dark? I debated allowing her to remember—at the very least she should remember Sans, but then again, she has Chara, so is it really necessary?

So let's quickly discuss the above. The last scene will happen slowly. We'll get environmental shots, background monsters interacting with Papyrus, so we'll get some establishing scenes. I want the community's perception of Papyrus to be very clear (regardless of whether it's admiration or fear). Perhaps we'll see a glimpse of Alphys? Perhaps Undyne? Perhaps not. It won't be long before he's in Snowdin's forest.

And then he sees her.

We have done it! We have reached the end of stage one. Despite this being small, I feel like it's a great victory. I definitely didn't think I would keep my attention on this project for as long as I did. Let's cross our fingers and hope I can keep it up! I'm also curious to know your thoughts on the plans for chapter 1.

I will be taking a bit of a break from daily posting. I want to get a few chapters written and up for my Sonic fanfic. Considering all of my free time has gone to working on Fawn, I think stepping back and taking a small breather before diving in head first into stage two might be best!

And lastly, I want to give a big thank you to everyone following along and even adding their feedback! It's exciting to know people have opinions on the story and want to help shape it.
