So based on what I've read so far for primers on chaos magic, I recommend starting with Condensed Chaos: An Introduction To Chaos Magic by Phil Hine, THEN getting the updated and revised and expanded editions of Liber Null and Psychonaut and also Liber Kaos by Peter J Carroll.
Caveats for Condensed Chaos:
misuse of "shaman" and similar terms (none of what is brought up relates to Tungusic peoples)
written by a neurotypical white English bisexual cisgender man, and boy howdy is the neurotypical part obvious in several areas
inconsistent capitalization for concepts, and also inconsistent comma usage
definitely a product of its time and not decolonized, which is a larger problem in chaos magic as a whole
Recommended Audience for Condensed Chaos:
pop culture mages/pagans
those interested in servitors, sigils, or chaos magic more broadly
technology mages
those who want to explore Jungian psychology in magic
As for Peter J Carroll's works... Basically the same as the above, yet also way more difficult to read if you're not used to old grimoire-esque language and writing styles.
I'd still genuinely recommend all three of these, just with the reminder to raise an eyebrow at some of the claims made.
The books I still have to read on chaos magic that I currently own are Hands-On Chaos Magic: Reality Manipulation Through The Ovayki Current by Andrieh Vitimus; Creating Magickal Entities: A Complete Guide to Entity Creation by David Michael Cunningham, Taylor Ellwood, and T Amanda R Wagener; and Magickal Servitors: Create Your Own Spirits To Attract Pleasure, Power and Prosperity by Damon Brand.
Plenty of reading left for me to do on this subject.
Pardon me, but the words 'adult human female' being used to describe the term woman isn't transphobic, right? I'm new to the whole trans thing, saw some TERFS saying it, wanted to check with you because you're gay and trans and you've got lgbtq followers. No offense meant
It's not about the words themselves, individually, it's about how they're used. Going out of your way to say "adult human female" instead of just saying "woman" is weird, and someone going out of their way to say that is doing it as a dogwhistle, to let other terfs know that they're in the same little club.
It's not the words, but how they are used. Let's take the word "humanoid". It's a perfectly regular, neutral word for describing anything that appears human. It wouldn't be insulting to describe a human being as being humanoid. But if you find someone consistently saying "humanoid" instead of "person", you would want to check on which people they don't think are actually people.
no u gguys dont het it like we do actually
“Oh how do you stay positive when the world is so awful how can you stay positive when our lives are falling apart-“ SPITE!!!!! ITS SPITE GODDAMN IT!!! REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE ANGRY AT THE WORLD AS A TEENAGER?? THAT KID WAS RIGHT AND YES IT FUCKING SUCKS AND NO, ITS NOT FAIR, SO YOU HAVE TO KEEP TRYING TO MAKE IT FAIR!!!!
The best compliments and insults are both just describing the person. Just describe whatever you can clearly observe about them. The distinction of whether that's an insult or a compliment is whether you're saying it with a pleasant tone, or if you're saying that like it's a bad thing.
Children, who make their observations in an utterly deadpan voice as neutral remarks, are capable of obliviously roasting people because they haven't noticed this.
Y'all
Civil disobedience is alive and well. Marcy Rheintgen decided to go into a women's bathroom last month in Florida.
This action is momentous, honestly. She entered the bathroom with a rosary and washed her hands, was given a warning before being arrested for trespassing.
Here's what she had to say about it:
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but she's right. This is absolutely bonkers and it's incredible of her to point this out publicly like this.
She's making good trouble, even before being prompted.
Edit: haha jokes on me. I knew I forgot something. Here's a link to the article
“Eww don’t ship them ! They’re just friends/ they hate each other/ they barely have any interaction/they never even met/they’re not from the same series !”
Pussy. Back in my days, we shipped Elsa and Jack Frost to hell and back because they were both ice themed.
If you live in finland why do you mostly post in english... or am I dumb.
For the attention. There are more english speakers in the city of London than there are finnish speakers in the entire world.
this is what i try to get my kids to understand, i TA for one elementary class and one college course and the prof. for rhet. comp. is so fucking cool like this and they have no idea what to do with that because they're expecting her to fail them every damn time they miss assignments bc of work or family obligations, she dont play with the slackers though she knows when they be tryin to take advantage 😭
even with my 2nd graders - if they don't get their homework sheets right or done on time, teach gives them three extra days and i grade wtv's late. its counterproductive to just call it a fail like that and then wonder why ur kids aren't learning the material.
On April 16th 2025 the US federal government has proposed to change the interpretation of the endangered species act so that it no longer protects habitat.
This is open for public comment until the end of May 19th. Please comment and make your voice heard.
Wildlife need their habitat. If the ESA redefines harm so that habitat is no longer protected, the implications for wildlife would be catastrophic.
You know what'd be really refreshing to see? A story where every main character just genuinely, openly, and purely loves each other, and nobody has a problem with it or thinks it's weird. Are they polyamorous, just intensely good friends, is it sexual, romantic, platonic? You can't tell where one ends and another begins. And whatever drama there is between the main characters is about genuinely wanting the best for each other, but disagreeing about what it is or how to get it.
Like imagine a scene where a woman sees her fiancé kiss another man on the mouth and later walks up to the man like "I see that he loves you as deeply as I love him, never dare to break his heart."
And the guy, who just put together that this must be his boyfriend's girlfriend, just goes "my lady I would push my sword through my own throat before I'd let him come to harm."
And this is just depicted as a perfectly normal way for people to talk to each other and about each other.
my rants to My Lord that i dont have anyone else to talk to about. rhet. comp. and literary studies grad, TA for creative writing and history
