And so, the moment I’ve all been waiting for! I’ve finished coloring this comic, and I am going to post it right now.
Kinda wild how most people generally recognize that the "too sick to go to school, too sick to watch tv/play games" mindset our parents had was bullshit but still impose essentially the exact same rules on disabled adults and scrutinize them for enjoying low-energy hobbies while being too fatigued or in pain to work a full time job (or any job at all)
HITS YOU WITH FIDDAUTHOR BLAST
AUGGH THERES SOMETHING ABOUT THE PARALLELS BETWEEN THE OKDER TWINS AND THE YOUNGER TWINS
Like how the younger twins have parallels between each of the older twins, but are still not them and super different just as much as they are similar!!
Like,
Stanford & Dipper (Dippers birthmark parallels Fords six fingers, they’re both nerdy and were bullied, etc.)
This one’s obvious, along with Stanley & Mabel (being the twin that feels ‘lesser’ or ‘dumber’ than the other, fear of being abandoned, etc.)
But people don’t notice and/or talk about the parallels between Stanley & Dipper and Ford & Mabel!!
Stanley & Dipper (Being weak and kinda wimpy as children, Stan related to him with that, both of them being stubborn and reckless, etc.)
Stanford & Mabel (They both can get way too absorbed in their own things that they forget about other peoples feelings, etc. I love Ford and Mabel so much and this isn’t meant to be mean.)
But then we see that the younger twins are still very much themselves, and not direct copies of the older twins, and I love that so much!!
Brandon Sanderson said that the purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon, and this is exactly the mindset I use when writing my own novels AND when dissecting my relationship with stories - most recently Gravity Falls, but also stories like Mistborn and Eragon.
The reason why answering what the meaning of life is is so hard is because it's different for every individual: You have to find it, nobody can tell you.
This is why fandoms are so cool; people all have slightly different versions of characters that are important to them. Storytellers put something out there, but us, the listeners, we create what we need from what is given. And that is absolutely beautiful.
So a toast to fandom and all the creativity and self discovery it cultivates.
Thinking about how Fiddleford was crying in the dorms when Stanford came in just to have the biggest smile on his face 9 hours later
I can certainly try! Sorry they’re just sketches but this got really long and its been a few hours since you sent this ask! Hope you’re still awake by now
