When’s the last time you looked at Sonic and knew shit was about to go down?

I feel like we haven’t seen this in over a DECADE. The last I can remember seeing Sonic serious and FEELING the tension is Unleashed and the Storybook Series. The closest we got was probably the CGI teaser trailer for Sonic Forces. And Forces was trying to bring that seriousness back, but it just felt shallow and forced. (No pun intended.) To the point where it was edgy in a cringy way. But I could make a whole other post about that.

Movie Sonic feels like Sonic, albeit younger. He’s a goofball, he’s cheesy and corny, and he’s an optimist. But he also cares deeply about his friends, and if you mess with them, he WILL make you pay. He CAN take things seriously and understand the stakes. And I feel like I haven’t seen that in a long time.

Maybe that’s why I’m so excited about the movie. It feels like the Sonic I know and love. It feels like coming home.

Does anyone else, primarily writers but I guess other people too, do that thing where you kind of just randomly start making up a scene to yourself and as you do it, you’ll like, play the characters physically? Like you’ll say their lines and you’ll throw a fake punch or smth
