The phrase “peace to the world” in Russian may sound funny at first, as it translates to “миру — мир”. But this is because the word “мир” in Russian means both “peace” and “world”. I’m personally really amazed by this fact.
However, this may lead to confusion sometimes. For example, the name of the famous Leo Tolstoy’s novel “War and Peace” can be misunderstood by Russians for this reason. And I’m not embarassed to admit that I used to be one of those poeple.
But regardless, миру — мир! <3

Ah, this Tik Tok always makes me giggle. Tik Tok by: prisyuk
My boyfriend woke up from a nightmare last night, got up from our bed, took his laptop and launched chess. Half asleep, he was silent the whole time, thinking of his moves. When he finally won against the computer he calmed down and explained with relief: "I saw a dream where I became dumb..."

Hey, just a random anon who found this blog looking for Russian content (somewhat new learner here). I came to learn the flow of the language and stayed for my new favorite Russian comedy—it’s absolutely hilarious, and I hoard your clips like precious gems, watching them again and again. I’m glad to see you’re back—I’ve realized just how much something you do to bring positivity for yourself can bring positivity to a total stranger. Thank you for making me smile and doing what you do.
You are literally the nicest! You have no idea how much you made my day. I'm so glad I'm back too, I almost forgot what wonderful people you all are. Thank you for your kind words, I hope you continue learning and familiarizing yourself with Russian! <3
this post isn't about translation or Improvisation. it's just a couple of pictures I took in Moscow so far.
I'll be back home this Sunday. my next translation is half done already. thank you for your patience!
I was just serfing the net and came across this video. I really love old educational videos for Russian learners, so I thought I’d share it. (I don’t know why I find the last conversation so funny, but it is)
If you're learning the language, I think these might help you get more familiar with not only reading and spelling, but with how Russians actually communicate. And these pages are pretty cool too, so you can just check them out even if learning the language isn't the main goal.
1. покажи нам кусочек своей жизни/show us a piece of your life
A rather cool page where people share random pictures from their phones with a bit of info about themselves. Every post has its own aesthetic but more importantly, these posts feel very real and authentic. Here's what some of these posts look like.
"I'm majoring in geo in Moscow, sing in choir, and right now I'm writing my thesis a bit worried about my future. But I'll be fine. Kindness to all"
"the life of a physics teacher 💫"
2. пушистые морды/fluffy faces
Another page that accepts post suggestions. Here you can share your adorable pet (it's mostly cats).
"his name is Oleg"
3. мам ну не читай/mom don't read it
Did you have a diary when you were a kid? I cringe every time I read my old diaries. But this page collects all the weird diary entries and posts them. Not sure where they take them from, but they're all pretty hilarious.
"the door to the future"
"the page of positivity"
I'll be back with a part two!
haven’t given up on my Russia based TFP AU, I’m just super super busy (end of year is go time for me and oh my god I’m trying so hard to get stuff done so I can just engage fully in Transformers bullshit again lmao)
in the meantime making this ref post for myself because my memory sucks and I don’t want to lose track of my resources lol (and listening to TF in Russian helps me brainstorm ideas for the AU!)

If anyone has any other TF media in Russian, feel free to let me know! <3
currently I have no Cyrillic keyboard (although I have been looking forever) and my Russian layout keyboard stickers wore down, so typing in Cyrillic is a bit tough at the moment even when changing my keyboard layout input settings and it’s tricky for me to find stuff as my vocabulary isn’t great (yet!!!)
I laughed when I was recently watching an episode of TFP in Russian and the only thing I understood in a scene was Fowler shouting “ya ne ponimayu” (”I don’t understand”) and I was like me too man LOL
Рукожоп - literally, "ass-hand", "arms attached to the ass", somebody who can not do anything well, who makes everything very poorly, cannot fix anything, breaks everything, all-thumbs;
Какой рукожоп банку это приложение написал? What an idiot/all-thumbs made this app for my bank?
Is there a word for this in your mother-tongue?
actually, we don't call it russian, we simply call it cheeki-breeki
