for me as a Mephisto kinnie and stan it's so painful to see how people depreciate his friendship with Diavolo. when Mephisto starts adoring Dia everyone is babbling about how gay he is, but he was just raised to praise the young prince, his friendship is based on praising and I don't see anything gay there. it's even sad, knowing about their canon relationships. he wants to be noticed and doesn't wants to be abandoned. I hope people will stop this fetishism about making every male/male interaction in this game about being gay. friendship exists too.

A Complicated Conversation

AN: Hello All! Here’s another Illumi update!  pt 4

Later that night, Illumi visited Y/N in their room. 

“All things considered, I think that went quite well,” Illumi said as he closed the door behind him. Y/N sat on their bed, muscles tensed and teeth clenched. Illumi frowned and edged closer. 

“Did you hear me?”

Silence met Illumi’s ears. Y/N glared at the eldest Zoldyck before turning their attention back to the wall. Illumi’s usually dull eyes lit up just a tad. 

“Oh. Are we having our first lover’s quarrel? Mother said that happens often. I’ve witnessed many between her and father mys-”

“Illumi! This is serious! That was awful. What are you getting me into? And what did Madam Zoldyck mean by tests?” Y/N was fuming. They stood up, meeting Illumi face to face. Y/N jabbed their finger in Illumi’s chest as they spoke. 

“I don’t know what you’ve gotten me into, but I didn’t sign up for any of this!” Y/N said. 

Illumi tilted his head. 

“I don’t understand. You’ve accepted my courtship, of course you accepted all that came with it as well.”

“That was before I actually knew what I was getting into! We just serve your family, we aren’t exactly knowledgeable about the dynamics of it. This is insane! I don’t want to do this anymore, Illumi, sir.” 

Illumi looked at Y/N, unblinking. Y/N shivered under his gaze. They felt a pain shoot through their arm, and looked down to see Illumi’s hand gripping them tightly. 

“You’re tired. You should get some rest, or otherwise you’ll say things you don’t mean,” Illumi said. Bile started to raise in Y/N’s throat. 

“You’re hurting me.” 

“And you’re hurting me. You don’t reject the ones you love. You don’t leave the ones you love,” Illumi said. By now, he had let go of Y/N wrist, allowing them to massage their bruised bones. 

“Master Zoldyck-”

“Illumi.” 

“Illumi,” Y/N whimpered. “Please. I’m uncomfortable.” 

“There’s nothing to be concerned about, Y/N. I’ve already said, I’ll handle everything. As your lover, it would look poor of me to not take care of you completely. I’ll train you. I’ll help you whenever my mother decides to test you to see if you are to her standards. There is nothing else to worry about,” Illumi said. 

Y/N ground their teeth. 

“You’re not listening to me,” Y/N said. 

“I hear you very well. I also understand that you are tired. Rest.” 

Y/N watched as Illumi pulled up a chair and sat next to Y/N’s bed. He patted a space on the bed, goading Y/N to sit. When Y/N didn’t move, Illumi scoffed and stood. He opened his arms. 

“Y/N,” he said.

Y/N held fast to their position. They flinched when Illumi moved to pull them down onto their bed. Y/N folded their arms as Illumi settled into the chair next to them. 

“Now. You’ll sleep. I’ll watch over you. You’ll see that I’m an excellent suitor, Y/N. I’ll take care of it all.” 

“No. I don’t want you to watch me sleep. That’s strange,” Y/N said. At this, Illumi frowned. 

“You’ve never had a problem with it before.” 

Y/N looked at Illumi as though he had three heads. 

“What do you mean, ‘before’?”

“I always watch you sleep. I have since you accepted my courtship. Are you telling me you didn’t know? It would seem we have more training than I previously thought,” Illumi mused. 

“Master Zoldyck!” 

“Illumi.” 

Y/N massaged their temples and laid flat on their back. 

“Illumi. Please. I’ll go to sleep, only if you don’t watch me,” Y/N said. 

“I don’t want anything to happen to you during the night,” Illumi said. 

“Nothing will happen! Please, you’re right. I’m tired and want to rest. Let me rest, please Illumi?” Y/N placed a tentative hand on Illumi’s shoulder. Illumi looked at Y/N’s hand, and slowly nodded. 

“I’ll be checking on you during the night.” 

With that, Y/N watched as Illumi shut them into darkness.

<3- He’s always been intrigued by humans; how such fragile creatures could have so much courage would never fail to amaze him. So when MC comes along, this sweet little thing who didn’t even know demons actually existed until a few weeks ago, he can’t help but be impressed on how little fear they show

<3- Immediately finds himself attracted to MC, but, of course, being the crowned Prince of the Devildom, he tries to keep things diplomatic. He didn’t want to risk a scandal, especially not now, since everything was finally working out to his liking

<3- MC recognizes Dia as the Prince, but because they didn’t grow up in the Devildom, they aren’t sure what that title exactly entails, so they stick to treating Dia like they would any other person, much to Lucifer’s chagrin and Diavolo’s delight

<3- With how casual MC is to Diavolo, he quickly finds himself falling for them, despite his best efforts not to. How could he be expected to not fall head over heels for them? Especially with their laugh when they’re caught off guard, or the side eye they give that seems especially reserved for Diavolo, when one of the brothers does something laughable. He feels special, as if their little silent conversations exist in a place no one can taint; its something just for them, and that’s something Diavolo has always yearned for

<3- As soon as he realized his feelings were something he couldn’t just brush over, he told MC. He’s a patient man, but he sees no point in hiding it from you, not when you two were already as close as you were. He swears his soul ascends to the Celestial Realm when you reveal that you feel the same

<3- Showers you in the finest jewels and gold (or silver if it matches your complexion better, cool toned shawtys gotta stick together FR). His father growing up only showed affection by gift giving, leaving Dia to lack any emotional warmth outside of material objects. While he tries to be better than his father, and is always praising you and showing love in any way he can, he especially loves giving you gifts, as that’s how he learned to show love

<3- He doesn’t mind receiving gifts from you, anything you give him he’ll cherish for the rest of his life, but he gets especially soft when you make him something. Little paper flowers? They’re the prettiest he’s ever seen. You bake him cookies? They’re the best he’s had in years (don’t worry, Barbs gets it). Give him origami you made in class when bored? He’s proposing then and there /j (/hj?). Just the idea that you thought about him and cared enough to make someone by hand makes him all soft and fuzzy inside. 

<3- Aside from handmade things, Diavolo adores quality time. Just having you sit near him while he’s doing paperwork or enjoying his tea send him over the moon

<3- Very protective. While he’s sweet with you, and would never let you see any other side, he is still a demon, and he would (and has) threatened or killed a few who wished harm on you, and he’d do it again without a second thought

<3- Overall, very soft with his lover. He just wants them to know how much he loves and adores them
