He's a founding member of the New Elemental Ninja Brigade, after the crime gang he called family sold him out. Burned by betrayal and bewildered by recently unlocked fire powers; Jason took up a new mantle - Ignite. Now he fights the bad guys to redeem himself of past actions and be a force of good.
