This is an AU where Gregory Mama is the one collecting souls and she gives them to her son
Nobody knows why he needs them, but it keeps the hotel alive. He still goes around the hotel but the guest almost likely will never encounter him
Here’s a scenario where a new guest hears the two talking
GM- Gregory dear, I’m aware it’s none of my business to ask this, but what exactly do you do with the souls?
G- That’s for me to know..and for you to never find out, now, hows the latest soul doing?
GM- Right..they’re..a little hard to get..but I’m sure I’ll get it
G- Good. Now hurry, I don’t have all day
(IDK why but I think it’s funny that Gregory is bossing his mother around)
