Nat fought so hard to deny what lottie was saying about the wilderness. She fought so hard to leave it behind, but lottie always knew it was going to follow them and come back.
When nat finally found peace it was through Lottie, who found a safe outlet for her beliefs. And then she died protecting Lottie, and Lottie felt like she lost everything afterwards.
