Okay, so I am still on muscle relaxers, but at a lower dose than the ER gave me so here goes:

By eliminating caps on corporate donations to political PACs, candidates, and proposed legislation, we essentially handed over our governmental system to corporations and super PACs, while this has been visible since Citizens United, the new Pseudo-feaudalism was the most clear its ever been during the 2024 Presidential race, while the Harris Walz campaign did have corporate donations, the Trump Vance campaign had Elon Musk, who had not one, but multiple corporations actively interfering in the election, between the algorithmic changes to Twitter favoring Trump-backing voices as well as voices sowing discontent and apathy among leftists, and reducing Moderate and main line democratic voices, the million dollar check raffles to essentially buy votes, and buying himself a governmental appointment (as a immigrant who, before being naturalized, was infact here illegally via immigration fraud during his Zip2 era). We are not longer a governmental priority, and while some more cynical people than me believe we never were, I would argue that the rapid degeneration of American Politics is directly linked to uninhibited campaign donations, corporate personalization under Citizens United, apathy to history and civic duties, and the rise of Infotainment over academia.

Now we find ourselves in a place politically and economically where the bootstraps simply do not exist anymore, we exist in a state of faceless corporations owning the majority of housing, production, recreation, and leisure. You cannot go a week without giving a dollar to a corporate conglomerate that owns everything from your deodorant to your cereal, to your utilities, to the land you are standing on. I'm not going to name too many names on this because a funny thing happens when you do that, you suddenly develop major mental health problems and end up dead "by suicide". Your boss's boss, what used to be the top of the corporate ladder, had instead become a lower manager compared to the shareholders and the hedge funds on Wall Street and in the pockets of your politicians. Have you ever tried to start a small business and looked to source your raw materials from a supplier? Have you ever looked into who owns that brand only to find it's actually the same owner of the very product you're trying to counter in the market? This is what corporate feudalism has developed into, there are very few raw materials you can outsource and stay away from them, you are dependant on them for the food you eat, the water you drink, the roof you sleep under at night. And that's just what it's become.

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

Reducing consumption over all is an obvious first step in supporting solidarity for women on a global scale. However, we can also take this a few steps further:

1. Cutting fast fashion out of your life entirely, major brand offenders are Shien, Forever 21, house brands for department stores (A New Day or Wild Fable at Target as an example), Instagram Pop Up Brands, Fashionnova, etc.

2. Where you do consume, look for certifications in regards to the labor and materials utilized Fair Trade, OkoTex, Rainforest Alliance Certified, Fair Wear Foundation, etc. Good on You is an app that simplifies a lot of the process though they automatically rate brands that utilize animal products as all equally bad in spite of varied practices on animal products (as someone who wears leather (bought and self processed) & fur (self processed) I find this a flaw with the app's ranking system) they have ratings for environmental impact, labor, animal products that makes shopping a bit easier.

3. When you do consume, aim for locally-owned and women-owned brands. Avoid allowing male owned and dominated corporate conglomerates to be the end point of women's dollars.

4. Look for quality products that will last longer than just a season, and try to avoid falling for trends that rise and fall, this is easier to do if you have a personal sense of style rather than one that is constantly fluctuating and changing with trends. I personally tend to stick with a more mature version of the "preppy" look somewhere between what would be considered Classic Americana and English Countrywear.

5. Avoid synthetic materials: most synthetics are petroleum based and shed microplastics affecting both your health and the health of our planet. If you do go for a synthetic or synthetic blend, try to aim for recycled synthetics. This has gotten increasingly difficult to do, but is still fairly easy to check for, just look at the labels and laundering instructions.

One facet of female solidarity that needs more discussion is anti consumerism and anti consumption. Our current western mindset is one of obtaining as much as possible, both as a show of wealth and for personal comfort. However, much of what we buy (for example, fast fashion) is produced in a non-transparent supply chain that frequently relies on female and Global South labor to make goods cheap and easily affordable, and thus more tempting for the consumer. These low wages that are paid to workers result in economic desperation and trap women in poorly paid, often abusive positions. Additionally, women and children are the most at risk from the negative effects of climate change, which is exacerbated by industrialization and over production.

By consuming less we reduce support for these predatory supply chains and their deleterious effects on the environment. Ideally if we buy goods, they are from female owned businesses whenever possible. Personally I also avoid spending money on items that enforce the beauty standard (this includes makeup, uncomfortable or impractical clothes or shoes, and cosmetic procedures). Essentially, what ways could you support female solidarity through consumption habits?

I have really deep thoughts on this but I just got dropped off at home by my boyfriend after a trip to the ER and I'm on enough muscle relaxants and pain meds to knock out a horse but like... I've been saying since the Supreme Court case that decided corporations are people (Citizens United (?)) That we were headed out of the realm of capitalism as we knew it, and certainly out of the prime capitalism that was Fordism (standardized low cost goods and decent enough wages for workers that allowed them to purchase those goods) and into an era of some form of nuveao (neuveau? That same fucker that that shit art movement was art neuveau) feaudalism, monopoly, oligarchy, and hegemony. I think those are the right words. Someone... like this so I can revise while not out of it.

you can't just switch off years of unhealthy behaviors, negative thought patterns, and counterproductive emotions. but u can recognize them and be like 'i'm not engaging. this isn't the end of the world. i'm box breathing. i'm not giving those thoughts attention; i'm acknowledging them and letting them go. i'm going to take a break when i can.' don't be hard on yourself if it doesn't work or you do something that feels like you've set yourself back. that doesn't help, either, lol

@cyanwrites while it *reduces* the risk of them becoming infected with and transmitting toxoplasmosis, it does not eliminate it. Field and house mice do still infiltrate homes and infect indoor patients, regular parasite monitoring, and proper hygiene when doing litterbox maintenance is the surest way to prevent toxoplasmosis.

I reblogged a comic the other day about a doctor watching House, MD and diagnosing toxoplasmosis, tagging it with "you're more likely to get toxoplasmosis from a salad than a cat". There's a story behind that.

I used to work in the kennel at a vet clinic. One day one of the vet techs came into the kennel in a tearing hurry, handed me two cat carriers, and said, "Find a cage for these two. Don't know how long, but you can put them together." And then she left.

This was not how that was supposed to happen. I had no cage cards--no names, no feeding instructions, no health information--they weren't on the schedule, and techs didn't usually intake boarders. Medical cases had a separate kennel, so a tech shouldn't be bringing me an animal in during office visit hours. But I had a cage in the cat room, so I tucked them in--two adult females, very friendly, apparently healthy.

Half an hour later the tech came back--with cage cards--and said, "It's okay, they're staying overnight and going home tomorrow." She slumped against the kennel wall and told the cats' story.

They had been brought to the clinic to be euthanized, to die.

These healthy, friendly, beloved cats had been brought in to be killed, because a woman's doctor, her obstetrician, had told her that they had killed her unborn baby. He told her if she ever wanted a child she had to get rid of the cats. He told her they should be euthanized before they killed any other woman's unborn child.

He said, with no evidence, that they had toxoplasmosis. He said that toxoplasmosis caused her miscarriage.

The woman was distraught. She had just lost her baby, she was dealing with the hormonal changes of the pregnancy loss, and now she had to euthanize her beloved cats. Fortunately no vet I've ever worked for will euthanize healthy animals brought in by a sobbing client without asking why!

The vet spent almost an hour talking to the woman, educating her on toxoplasmosis, telling her all the reasons her doctor was wrong.

Not all cats have toxoplasmosis, and even when they do they only shed the oocytes in their feces--they're only infectious--for the first few weeks. Most cats are infected as kittens and are no longer infectious as adults. According to Wikipedia, "Numerous studies have shown living in a household with a cat is not a significant risk factor for T. gondii infection,[61][63][64] though living with several kittens has some significance.[65]"

Most people get toxoplasmosis from raw vegetables, especially salad greens that grow close to the soil and are hard to clean. Raw or rare meat, raw seafood, and unpasteurized milk are also a risk.

Toxoplasmosis can be a soil-borne disease from feces in the soil. Gardening is a greater risk than cat cohabitation.

Toxoplasmosis infection is dangerous to the fetus in pregnancy, yes, causing birth defects and miscarriages. But only the first time the person is infected. If this this woman had lost her first pregnancy to toxoplasmosis--and the vet said it really didn't fit the symptoms--she would be at low risk in a subsequent pregnancy.

So basically the vet told the woman that 1) her miscarriage probably wasn't toxoplasmosis, 2) even if it was, she probably didn't get it from her cats, 3) even if her cats had given her toxoplasmosis, they weren't infectious anymore.

The woman kept her cats and got a new obstetrician.

Human doctors get a few lectures on zoonotic diseases--diseases transmitted from animals to humans or vice versa. Veterinarians get semesters. If a doctor ever tells you your animals have given you a disease, get a second opinion from your vet!

hey let's start spreading the reminder now that you cannot safely self-manage an abortion with herbal medicine or essential oils. natural abortifacients function by poisoning you; you wait for your body to realize you're dying and reject the pregnancy in order to conserve resources, and hope that happens before the rest of your organs shut down.

i think there will be an upsurge soon of unscrupulous and/or malicious actors preying on desperate pregnant people; do not help them kill people. don't spread recipes for herbal medicines or ingestible essential oil mixtures that purport to cause a pregnancy termination.

For reference, I live in a not so great Philly suburb, unfortunately, so I'm a little bit more heavily armed than I would be in other places

I carry a 9mm Glock 43 with a 6+1 round capacity. You can also go for the 43X, which has a similar profile but double the round capacity. The sizing is right for my grip, and the texture is less sandpaper like than the S&W and Sigs on market. I payed about $470 for my Glock as a factory rebuilt gun. My holster is a convertible kydex holster as well, able to be mounted both in the waistband and outside of it, I find these to be the best for me personally as a southpaw shooter since they're usually ambidextrous. I also added an under barrel mounted flashlight and laser combo (Streamlight TLR-6) since the 3 times I've considered drawing my firearm from holster in real world events happened either in my darkened home or at night at a gas station. I pair my primary holster with a belly band as well that I keep my debit card, ID, and spare mags in. My secondary is kept in either a boot holster or an ankle holster *with trigger guard*

The glock does not have a manual safety, it has a safety trigger, but that is not the same. My secondary sidearm (Kimber Micro in .380 ACP had the thumb safety removed by its prior owner (likely another southpaw shooter since 1911 style models are incredibly difficult to handle the safety on as a southpaw) which is why I carry that one condition 3.

My next handgun purchase will be the Glock 17 for in home situations, open carry when necessary, and competition shooting.

I have had to draw my gun once, and I will tell you right now, it is an adrenaline surge, whether or not you have to take the shot. I can't tell you which factors played into it more vs others, but despite hearing the blood rushing in my ears I do know I would have taken the shot had he not opted for the more peaceful option to GTFO of my house. I also know that I would have been an emotional wreck afterward.

I'm seeing a ton of Feminists urging eachother to get a gun due to the election results, which is fantastic news imo American women please please please assert your 2nd amendment rights and get a gun if you're able to <3

Reddit has a handful of firearm related subs, included r/firearms(skews conservative/rightwing) and r/liberalgunowners and r/concealedcarrywomen Facebook has women's gun groups also, many of them skew conservative but can still be a valuable resource for beginners Check out your local area for self defense firearm classes, some will have classes geared specifically to women. Check out your local gun stores, or sporting goods stores, some will have a range in which you can rent a firearm before purchasing but many don't have this feature, so it's important to do product research before buying. https://www.pewpewtactical.com/best-handguns-women/ https://tombstonetactical.com/blog/best-guns-for-women (Most guns range from $400 to $700 btw) Gun store employees are overwhelmingly male (and in my experience, old) and might try to steer you towards the tiny pink pistol, or a .22, or something else equally impractical for self defense. It's important to be assertive and clear in what you're looking for!

Additional Notes on this: I carry 2 sidearms, a primary and a secondary, as well as additional magazines for a total of about 32 rounds on my person at any given time. I aim to have a minimum of about 19 rounds (2 6 round spare mags + a 6 round magazine in my primary, and 1 round chambered), particularly if I am only able to carry my primary side arm given the outfit I'm wearing. Ensure all holsters have trigger guards idgaf what safety features your firearm has, safeties are mechanical devices capable of failure. My secondary I carry in condition 3, whereas my primary is carried in condition 0. I will also post photos later and reviews on both of my sidearms and why they are what they are.

I'd argue you can incorporate elements, support your sisters in 4B (this means not defending your male partner or family), refuse to have children, and vow that if your current relationship doesn't work out you will join the ranks of 4B. Also, dump your boyfriend or husband if he either opposes 4B or voted Red. But you still aren't fully 4B. You can be allied with your sisters in the movement, but that also requires controlling your Pearl clutching at your sisters in 4B.

Maybe a bit of a controversial take, but I’m so sick of going into comment sections on posts and videos about the 4B movement to see women being like «my hubby bubby is sweet and nice tho 🥺🥺🥺» like well that’s great and all, but then this movement isn’t for or about you???

Nobody’s saying you have to get a divorce, or that your man specifically is bad, but you’re not a part of this movement if you’re married to a man.

It’s that simple.

Local Feminist gun owner here: another important thing to consider is the fact that the police may be less likely to believe you acted in self defense, particularly if you are a woman of color or lower socioeconomic status or if your attacker is a white male. This makes it doubly important to have a self-defense lawyer on retainer and self-defense liability insurance on hand. I achieve both and have additional training aids by having membership with USCCA/Delta Defense. I have the top tier for $49 a month. They cover firearms related to self-defense incidents, tasers, pepper spray, and even justified dog bites. Every legally justifiable act of self-defense and justified use of force. They have free events for members, a network of lawyers on retainer, and a post-incident hot-line available 24/7 as well as maps of where you have reciprocity on your license to carry, and detailed breakdowns of each state's laws, which is particularly vital if you travel for work, school, or hobbies. I've linked my referral code as well. It's absolutely something I encourage every gun owner in America to have, but particularly gun owners who may be at a disadvantage with police and the judicial process in the event they have to defend themselves.

https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/referral?id=MDAxNWIwMDAwMkRpMGVYQUFS&tID=5bf43111b0cd6

Also, for a primary side arm, I wouldn't go any smaller than 9mm. A compact frame size is also your best bet as a beginner, subcompacts have more felt recoil at the same load weight and caliber, and full sizes have the least but they're also significantly more difficult to on body carry. I also suggest on body carry rather than purse or off body carry for a multitude of reasons. If you have questions about gun ownership, tactics, law, resources, and training my DMs are always open. Plan C Pills, Pay as you can for as little as $5 if you're currently pregnant, $250 for future use pills being mailed to you.

Stock up on Plan B, Birth Control if you're on the Pill, personally I opted for Paraguard 10 years no hormones. Just... stay safe ladies.

This is a reminder to:

Never mention a possible pregnancy/abortion to anyone, especially not through a social media app messaging service such as messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Snapchat, etc.

Delete all period tracking apps and to start tracking using a planner or physical calendar

Book appointments for a form of birth control if possible, or to always carry condoms for yourself and other

Look into sterilization options if that is the route you want to go down (here is a list of 1000 doctors willing to sterilize you without a fight)

Protect your fellow person, protect the women in your life, the queer people, the disabled people, everyone will be affected by this

Form communities. Tell your people that you love them. Protect one another. Check in on one another. None of us are alone.

Ladies. If you're currently pregnant The MAP offers medication abortion from $5, it's $250 for future use.

Just remember, seeing the stuff done to women and our rights, if you feel discouraged, misanthropic, depressed, grief, hopeless, lacking energy, confused or listless: it means nothing about our situation. Your feelings are a natural reaction to terrorism.

Terrorism works. It is meant to make you feel that way.

You are not doomed. You are a victim of terrorism.

You will be okay.

Take time to properly check out and reconnect with what makes you love life. Read a fiction book. Go to the ocean. Look up and out. The world is still here and so are you.

1 shot of whiskey (Irish is best here, I go for Jamesons or Bushmills) 16 oz hot water, 3 honey dabbers of honey, 1 bag of sleepy time honey, one bag sleepytime extra strength with valerian. Drink alongside 5mg melatonin and a 60% dark chocolate truffle. Particularly good for easing the bones and arthritis in winter. Also you can add a bit of heavy cream or whole milk to really add some decadence to this routine.

Chai tea bag + lil but of brown sugar + apple cider packet + 16 oz. mug of hot but not quite boiling water

it will not Fix You but like. maybe. maybe.

I've been off of meds for just under 6 years now and am wary of long-term psychiatric medication use due to overprescribing by a my psychiatrist I had before I tapered down. However, here are some pros and cons on the ADHD meds I've been on (inattentive-impulsive combination)

Vyvanse: I'd reccommend against this one if you have a history of restrictive disordered eating, that being said, this was the most effective at the lowest dose for me, and was the amphetamine of choice when we weaned me off of my meds after the aforementioned psychiatrist lost her license for 3 years after killing 2 patients with the same protocol she had me on. It wasn't jittery, or too focused, I was sharp but able to switch between tasks and return to tasks. I will say the withdrawal on this was moderately rough, usually about 4pm and I'd trend towards being angry/aggressive as they wore off.

Desoxyn: Pharmaceutical Grade Methamphetamine: I'll qualify this with the fact I was never on it on its own... but it's also the drug that pushed me into signing myself into a unit after about 2 weeks. Major stomach cramping and anxiety on it, I also lost about 20 lbs on it. I'm not a fan, would not recommend. The focus level was insane but ended up resulting in me being incredibly overstimulated and light sensitive. It did wonders for my test scores, but wasn't worth the physiological and psychological cost.

Adderall Extended Release: I liked it a lot, didn't have a ton of side effects, it was the best focus I had, but it was also significantly more tempting to abuse than Vyvanse since it only lasted me about 4-6 hours and I was already dealing with 12-14 hour days. It did affect my sleep quality a bit if I took it after 6.

Concerta: I can't speak to this one directly. However, I can say it's worked wonders for my boyfriend, and if I needed meds again, I would probably put Concerta as my second choice. He hasn't had major side effects, it's working well for his work, which is fairly active work to begin with, and he's not as anxious anymore. It has made some of his dreams really weird though, but less nightmares and more just... weird.

Also, if something feels off, you're having weird heart sensations, talk to your doctor, and don't be afraid to get 2nd or even 3rd opinions on your medication protocol.

I have adhd (inattentive type) and might be considering medication soon. Would you be willing to talk about your experience with medication just so I could get some first hand experiences? It's totally fine if you don't want to discuss this though :)

omg yes I definitely can!

I'm also inattentive type, and additionally have chronic fatigue. before I took meds, I was perpetually stuck in a guilt loop of thinking that I am awful and lazy because I could never bring myself to do things that I wasn't interested in (busy work for school), but also dedicating hours of focus to things I did like (video games, random books, obscure research), and then feeling awful that I had spent so much time being "unproductive." I was diagnosed about three years ago now, and I have definitely benefited massively from taking ADHD meds.

I was first given generic adderall, which worked well in terms of focus but caused me to shake pretty badly and have heart palpitations. I switched to vyvanse, which was actually even more effective, and did not cause me to shake profusely. unfortunately because of the demand for ADHD meds/stimulants in addition to the fact that vyvanse is still only a name brand drug (no one is allowed to make and sell the drug under a different name), the prices have been jacked to high heaven. even with my health insurance, I just can't afford vyvanse, so I have switched back to adderall. adderall, like I said, works fine for me, but does cause me to shake depending on how much sleep I've had and how much exercise I do (ei, running up a flight of stairs an hour after I've taken my pill causes me heart palpitations).

how the meds work for me:

adderall: causes my baseline energy level to go up a bit, and allows me to focus on something deeply for a long time. my brain still jumps between things, but I am overall able to zone in on one task at a time. I am on a low enough dose that I can still force myself to take breaks (pomodoro my love) and maintain a healthy work pattern. one problem I have is that if I am paying attention to something when the adderall kicks in, that is what I am going to be focused on - and sometimes that will happen to be Pintrest, drawing, or writing, rather than schoolwork or my job.

vyvanse: I prefer this one because it allows me to think in straight lines. It allows me to only think about one thing at a time, and when I need to divert my attention to something more specific, its like a branching straight line goes off the main line of focus, but importantly, it can join back up with that original line of focus. does not make me shake. I occasionally can fall into the same trap as will adderall, where I am focusing on the wrong thing when it kicks in, but overall it is easier to direct my concentration.

generally, I always take the "extended release" (ER/XR) version of either medication, because a regular pill causes me intense and obsessive focus for about two hours, followed by an energy crash. XR means I have a good 8 hours of mild focus improvement. I don't take my pills every day, partially because I don't like the idea of being dependent on anything more than I am, and partially because I don't necessarily need them. I normally take a pill early mid-day (10am - 1pm) before my classes/lectures, or before I start classwork, and that works well. taking one any time after like 4pm-5pm means I can't sleep.

damn that was a lot lol. I hope that helps -- overall, taking medications has allowed me to feel like a functional student, and makes me very aware of the fact that my brain works slightly differently than some of my friends lol

There are about 2 people I'd let mess with my glasses: My best friend, and my boy toy (who has never actually seen me in my glasses and doesn't know that I've never really seen the details of his face particularly well up close) I'm far sighted and have occasional issues with vertical nystagmus in my right eye due to a traumatic brain injury as a teen so I don't generally wear them since I do alright with compensating unless it's night time or I'm dealing with a migraine. But! They've expensive as hell with fancy prism lenses, like 4 different specific coatings, and they're an older frame style that I just buy new lenses for every few years. The lenses alone cost me almost $500 with my insurance. My best friend has touched my glasses twice during wine and whine nights when I've passed out on the couch, and boyfriend doesn't know they exist, but he's going to figure it out fairly soon because I'm sick of not reading before bed when he comes over.

Read enough stories featuring characters who very notably wear glasses, and you start to notice certain trends in romantic scenes.
