Also btw trump recognizing only "the two biological sexes" harms intersex people too. I am a researcher of sex and it's affects on disease, and sex is far more complicated than "two sexes" and it always will be. Sex is multifaceted and there are far more than two binary sexes. Keep that in mind too. Don't fall into bioessentialism as you fight for trans people and intersex people.

SU Main cast redesigns

I recently got back into the SU fandom and got the urge to do some redesigns. So for my designs I wanted to do the crystal gems in the "Greg era" from before Steven was born.

I didn't change Young Greg at all but wanted to draw him as well. For Rose I thought she might have switched out from a dress to a flowy pant set for more comfort and mobility.

I took inspiration for Pearl from her pilot design. I love the design but feel like it doesn't match her personality as well as the main design so I tried to blend the two.

Amethyst I had the most ideas for, I thought since what is normally sold as citrine is just heat-treated amethyst, She might have some orange from being "over cooked" I also put her in a more casual outfit. I think jorts fit her much better than short shorts. I did forget she was much more of a kid in the Greg era but I think it still works.

I don't have much reasoning for Garnet, I just thought she looked really cool. I gave her hand wraps since she uses gauntlets and made her more muscular to show off her strength.

really not sure when it happened or why but personally I'm pissed that the queer community at large seems to have given up ground on the "people with penises/vulvas/testes/ovaries" language to sex & gender essentialists in exchange for the much less precise, much more demeaning "AGAB" language.

is it because you're scared of the word vulva? of acknowledging out loud that some people have penises? of recognising that many many people, including but certainly not limited to trans people, have mixed sex characteristics that cannot be accurately summarised by "afab/amab" as shorthand for "female/male"?

"in [GENITAL RELATED] situation AFABs will need to do X and AMABs will need to do Y" there are "afabs" with penises and "amabs" with vulvas. Saying this shit makes you look so unserious & honestly transphobic (given the ongoing erasure of post-op trans people within broader community). Intersex people and GRS have both existed for long enough (fucking forever and, decades, respectively) that we should well past making this basic fucking mistake.

quit referring to people by a vague & often violent event that happened at their birth as though it defines ANYTHING about how they & their body currently operate, and start using precise language so you at least look like you know what you're fucking talking about.

Gender is complicated as fuck. I know I have a gender, I can feel it as apart of me. But woman feels like sandpaper on my skin and man feels like a concept I can't begin to understand, let alone relate to. I can't describe it with feminine, masculine, or somewhere in-between because I truly don't believe masculine and feminine are real things. I like being called girl or boy because they feel endearing, but not a description of who I am. I haven't felt like a person for most of my life, the lines between myself and the world around me are blurry at best.

If I had to describe my gender, nail it down to one thing, I would say my gender is the fact that every element in our bodies came from a dying star. Stars are the reason we have life, the center of our solar systems. Stars are ancient things. Extraordinary things. And I am them, they are me. It is through them that I am apart of the world.

So who I am is Stargender and genderqueer. My whole being is inherently queer.

I think it’s really weird that the average person needs a home and a car and an education to effectively function at all in a capitalist society but those things are all such an exorbitantly high price that the average person would never ever be able to pay for them one lump sum and thus we decided that upon entering adulthood every average person would likely have to sign their life away to various powerful banks to pay for these things and everyone was just like “Ok, that seems legit and not fucked up AT ALL.” and now it’s such an accepted and normalized part of society that everyone looks at you like you’re dumb for thinking it’s weird. I just think it’s really fucking weird.
