PEOPLE WITH GASTROPARESIS I NEED YOUR HELP

I think i have gastroparesis but im not sure how to bring up my symptoms to my doctor, and im not sure if im looking into the right think, i show all the common symptoms, but i just want to hear others experience, anything helps, thank you.

I want to talk about interacting with AAC users in person, specifically for speaking people.

1. Being an AAC user, I get left behind during conversations a lot because it takes me longer to add in my statement. By the time I'm done, the topic has oftentimes changed and then what I want to say isnt relevant anymore, and sometimes wont even be understood because to everyone else what I just said was out of place and random. This feels really frustrating and sometimes isolating, as well as embarrassing. Please wait for us, we want to converse too.

2. Sometimes when I am not yet done responding, people will watch me and try to guess what I'm going to say. If all I've got down so far is "I already", people might go "I already.. know!" "I already.. saw!" etc. Please stop doing that. Even if you got the idea correct, you might use the wrong words, which frustrates me. And even if you say it all correctly it's still frustrating, imagine if someone tried to guess what you were saying by interrupting you every time you started to talk. It's annoying.

3. Dont comment on what in our folders. If I open a folder to get to another word, and whilst doing that you see a different word in it that's funny or inappropriate or whatever, keep it to yourself. Its annoying. You have acsess to those words, and it isnt treated as weird, so why is it for me?

4. Don't infantilize us. We aren't perpetually children. We are our age. Treat us as if we are a speaking person of our age.

mark: genuinely this guy is so mentally strong i swear. i've said it so many times but he was forced to stay in his room for DAYS with an alternate on the other side of the door TORMENTING him with voices and bringing up his LITTLE SISTER to provoke him. when he cracked he decided he wasn't going down alone and started SHOOTING AT THIS THING. HE USED MULTIPLE BULLETS ON IT. for me that's such a powerful death. mark heathcliff what a wonderful thing

cesar: come on. LMFAOOOOOO listen i love MY interpretation of cesar's character but in canon we have NOTHING. i made an entire post about he hasn't actually shown up ONCE in canon yet it's just been his alternate. so as much as i love cesar torres bffs with mark heathcliff oldest heathcliff sibling mama's boy... that's NOT what he is in canon and that's ok! i am excited to see what he's like in canon though ^-^

adam: wow. jesus okay so. this guy is a Lot? vol 2 he a guy with an obsession with alternates because his mom died from one & the alternates have an equal fascination with him. vol 4 ok turns out he's acting pretty mean OH ok he's an alternate now? alright that's. yeah that adds complexity to his character excited to see where this goes. catalyst HOLY FUCKING SHIT GET OFF THE FLOOR GET A SHIRT ON WHY ARE ALL OF YOUR BONES BREAKING AT THE SAME TIME. i thought THATCHER was the punching bag of this series not ADAM MURRAY. like this guy is in so much turmoil and pain both physically and mentally. THIS GUY NEEDS HELP!!!!!

jonah: jonah defenders STAND TALL STAND STRONG!!!!!! but in reality jonah is definitely an odd case. he's obviously very nervous about these alternates but tags along seemingly FOR adam because why else would he be here. his explosion at the end of vol 2 is because of the building anxiety and terror of these alternates and he does not want his friend to be hurt by these things that he tries so hard to pursue. granted this is not an excuse for the things he says, ESPECIALLY when he brings up adam's DEAD MOTHER AND SAYS HE WISHES THEY NEVER LOOKED FOR HER BECAUSE SHE'S DEAD AND GONE? jonah i don't know how much i can defend you dude. he ends up leaving adam behind which is another shitty thing but consider: what else can he DO? he blew up at his friend TRYING to get him to leave the house filled with things that will KILL HIM and his friend (presumably because it was his voice) tells him to fucking leave. jonah's NOT going inside that house and he's not waiting out there for him to finish his little get-together with his alternate friends. he is FILLED with sheer panic and terror and has come to the understanding that he CANNOT save his stubborn friend and the only person he can save is himself. so he leaves. and dies.

thatcher: dear lord where do i begin with this man. i know i love calling him a sopping wet pathetic paper bag of a man but he has genuinely lost so much. he lost his best friend and is in clear AGONY over this loss, writing to her and reading it out loud knowing she can't hear or respond or even KNOW he's talking to her. he is tormented by creatures in his closet and around his house, INCLUDING the literal DEVIL HIMSELF. it's unclear whether or not dave and thatcher are friends in canon but they are definitely connected in some way if thatcher is sending dave tapes to recover. presumably the ONLY OTHER PERSON he has contact with dies too. he is surrounded by death and creatures that thrive off it. and if we are to assume he was the one who saw adam in catalyst, that REALLY does not help him AT ALL. i don't know if he ran away or what with the camera dropping, but this guy's mental state is THROUGH THE GROUND

ruth: i'm gonna be honest with you she had like 5 minutes of screentime and she died so fast. similarly to cesar i enjoy mine and others' interpretations of her character but it is IMPOSSIBLE to gauge much from her in canon. the most we can probably get is she's determined because she went into that house despite everyone else "[pussying] out" as she put it. sorry ruth but you were great for your 5 minutes of volume time. plus you gave us "babygirl thatcher davis" which we will never forget. alex kister please stop killing your characters off so early if you must kill them

dave: listen. i don't know if he's my favorite but he is objectively the funniest character that is and ever will be in the mandela catalogue. the guy shows up as a joke to promote the intruder plush, shows up for REAL in vol 333 to help out with the stanley tape, comes back AGAIN to promo the cesar plush WITH EVELIN, shows up in vol 4, meets THE DEVIL HIMSELF, and his eyes and brain explode and he dies. AND THEN WHEN THE PREACHER PLUSH GETS PROMOED HE GETS BROUGHT BACK JUST TO DIE AGAIN. HE IS ONLY SEEN AS A BLOODSTAIN. GENUINELY YOU CANNOT GET A FUNNIER GUY THAN THIS. yeah i know he inadvertently aided with the alternate invasion but he was funny while he did it so...? but to be serious, the absolute TORRENT of emotions this guy must have been feeling once he realized he accidentally helped the DEVIL is unimaginable. was he scared that he was going to die? did he welcome death, knowing now what he did? did he know that thatcher was going to die too? a lot to think about

sarah: SARAH HEATHCLIFF OHHHH MY GOD (RIPS OFF MY SHIRT TO REVEAL #1 SARAH HEATHCLIFF DEFENDER ON ANOTHER SHIRT) sarah has lost so much in terms of her brother and makes sure the police KNOW what they did and who they let die. she is furious at adam for acting so nonchalant about jonah's death (his BEST FRIEND to her knowledge) yet is still concerned when she leaves him the voicemail at the end of vol 4. she cares so much but she has a difficult time SHOWING it. i'm not sure what the hell she was doing in mandela catalyst with the "he's fine" stuff (adam murray is in AGONY) but i'm sure it'll get explained at some point. she's overcome so much and is STILL dealing with so much shit but she is being so strong and i have nothing but respect for her

evelin: last but not least is EVELIN. if the "curiosity killed the cat" saying was a person. i say that a lot but it's curiosity that led to her watching those tapes marked SPECIFICALLY FOR DAVE FROM THATCHER. she got fired for her curiosity, went to the police station like dave suggested and what did she do as soon as she got there? SHE WENT INTO THE POLICE STATION ARCHIVES AND STARTED POKING AROUND. YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS DO YOU NOT LEARN EVELIN MILLER????? at the end of vol 4 it is ASSUMED that you're dead but then you show up in mandela catalyst COMPLETELY FINE? like i said before i'm sure it'll get explained but it's funny as hell for the time being. WITH MANDELA CATALYST assuming that the texts between her and sarah take place BEFORE she sees the preacher, this is her curiosity AGAIN. i'm betting that it's out of concern for adam as well, but despite sarah saying he's fine, she still went to find him anyway. she's a very curiosity-motivated character and if i have to type curiosity one more time i'm going to lose my mind. anyway

so to answer your question of who my favorite character is... that's still a really tough one. characters are still being fleshed out and characterized, and they're shifting so much! so how about i hold onto this for a little while and get back to you when the series is over ^-^ i hope you're not too disappointed by this answer! it's just hard to pick a favorite when they're still building. in any case, i really hope you enjoyed reading my word vomit! i had so much fun writing about these characters
