As an added bonus, it would be cool if you told me your answer + your general place of residence. If you spent most of your life somewhere you currently don't live, tell me where you come from. You can be as specific as the state/province you live in or as unspecific as "eastern US."
I also encourage non-Americans to answer because I'm interested in what others feel is the better name/what they've heard Americans call it.
I recently got an on-campus job. During the interview process, I requested that I not be scheduled on Friday nights or Saturdays as I am a Jewish student.
My boss immeadiately brightened and rushed to explain - "Of course ! Of course! We want to accomodate you! We have another worker who takes off for Ramadan. Do you need to take off for Ramadan?"
I shook my head, incredibly confused. "Uh. That's. Not my jurisdiction. I'm good." Boss nodded but was sure to add "Let me know if that ever changes. We can help you with Ramadan."
it's not glamorous, but it's also not honest work, and nobody needs to do it

You see, Perry the Platypus, when Vanessa was a little girl, she wanted to take estrogen. Of course, I said yes. And since then she’s always been my little girl. Well recently, Vanessa’s school deadnamed her on her reports! Can you believe that!? I mean we live in a fairly progressive area and—hey, isn’t that not allowed in public schools??
Anyway, that’s when I got the idea for THIS! The deadname-eraser-inator! That way, not only will Vanessa no longer be deadnamed, but EVERY OTHER TRANS PERSON IN THE TRI! STATE! AREA!
mimes should be screaming and moaning the whole time theyre performing to more realistically reflect the emotional realities of the really fucked up stuff they have to deal with all the time (trapped in a box, tugged on by a rope, suitcase too heavy, etc.)
No one is talking about this, but I think it’s because no one knows about it
Tw: black man unalived by texas police

Genesis Hicks was a young black man who lived in north texas. While unarmed and running away from the cops, they tased him and let him fall and caused him to die by not caring for his body after being tased. When you cause someone to fall down, you have to be careful that they do not fall and harm their body in the fall. Not taking care of him so that he wouldn’t hit his head is a horrible idea and lead to him being in a coma for 2 weeks and then dying.
I don’t know much about Genesis Hicks’s life before his death, but I do know he was young and scared. He was running away for using a fake ID to purchase a car. There was no reason for the police to think he was violent and they knew he was unarmed before causing him to die.
The Frisco police should apologize, charge those involved with his death, and work with local groups to find better ways of running their department for future cases. This should never happen again.
I know those of you seeing this probably care a lot for black people and for those in our country who are being hurt by the police. If you feel inclined, please share Genesis’s story and urge others to care about his life and the inhumane death he suffered.
If you want to express sympathy or buy flowers in Genesis’s memory this is the place for that:
