Oh wow I got this like forever ago and forgot about it; sorry I havenāt answered yet!
1. Dandelions and violets springing up all around our yard
2. Overly detailed and unnecessary Elvish translation (see previous post, hehe)
3. My cats, and the way it feels when theyāre curled up on my lap and just vibrating with purring--especially when they both try to fit on me at once, lol :)
4. Dreaming of going on a road trip with my friend(s) once it is again safe to do so.Ā (Itās funny, Iāve had this ask in here long enough that I know Iād never even heard of Coronavirus when I got it. Not to bring down the happy, but that thought just struck me.)Ā
5. Reading a good fanfic. Itās been a while since I read Gotham fanfics, but I remember I always liked yours :)Ā
Is it weird that I feel like this would make a fun pet?
A postage stamp that licks you back.
Rainbow kitty is so pretty <3Ā
Is this kitty a savannah? They look like a savannah.Ā
Also Iāve been restraining myself from reblogging cats for a while because I was trying to keep my blog more fandom-y, but I was just about to reblog a thing in which I contribute to a conversation involving dogs and I was likeĀ āwait, I still havenāt reblogged any cat things yet. I am a crazy cat lady. This is unacceptable.ā So I decided to come back for this lovely rainbow kitty.Ā
Twinsies! ;)
I spent the weekend in the UK and it was fantastic. Thanks to @mjkeysz, Seth, Faith and the whole #wbukcrew. Until next time!
So I know itās late November and everyone has pretty much moved on to Christmas and such, but Iām somewhat slow with processing things and I still wanted to share my Gotham-themed trunk that I did for my churchās Trunk-or-Treat this Halloween. Itās the first year Iāve gone so specific with a theme, but I got so obsessed with Gotham over the summer that I couldnāt help myself. So, I decided to make my trunk into the Iceberg Lounge (circa early season 4, though my Penguin costume is more season 3-inspired).Ā
Iāll probably do a few separate posts, actually, just to break down all the different parts and how I made them, but here are some general pictures of my trunk and myself in costume. For anyone who doesnāt know, Trunk-or-Treat is a thing some churches, and other organizations, do where a bunch of people line up their cars in a parking lot and decorate their trunks. It provides a shorter, safer trick-or-treating route for parents with young children or anyone who doesnāt want to go house to house, and itās also a way for people like me who live way out in the country to get trick-or-treaters. (Speaking of living out in the country, I did wash my car the day before this, but living on a gravel road, the dust always comes back...)
My Iceberg Lounge trunk, in brief, included purple umbrella lights fixtures, a frozen Ed-berg, penguin statues, and Oswaldās shiny orange bar counter. For my costume, I wore a fancy suit (obviously, haha. I also learned itās really fun to shop for menswear). I even found a wing-collared shirt like Oswald wears in late season 2/season 3. Ā I knew I would never be able to get a wig into proper disco vampire form, so I decided to wear Oswaldās bowler cap; I still probably didnāt get the wig trimmed short enough on the sides (I bought a basic black bob wig at Walmart and trimmed it) but Iām pretty pleased with how the spiky bangs turned out. Naturally, I also found myself a nice long, black umbrella to complete the look :)Ā
I was really hoping that at least one Gotham fan would come through and get it, and I could point to my icy Ed and goĀ ālook! I even have Ed!ā, but alas, no one did. One family did a Batman-themed trunk and I strolled over, as in character as I could manage, to introduce myself, but I did have to explain my costume to them. I was fairly happy, though, that at least a couple of people did get that I was the Penguin (āletās see, purple parasols and birds... you must be... the Penguin?ā guessed one gentleman). Anyways, now Iām posting it here, so hopefully some Gotham fans will see it and appreciate my theme!Ā
I figured I ought to tell the story of my blog background (which gets into the story of my blog) and give credit as best I can for the picture I used to make it. Also I should probably warn you here and now that I tend to ramble.Ā
So, first off, I have to admit that I canāt give exact credit for the original picture I used; I got it from Google Earth a long time ago, and now that theyāve changed the photos layer, I canāt find the original anymore. Iāve tried a reverse google image search, but it doesnāt come up. All I can tell you is that it came from Narrows, Virginia, or the surrounding area, and itās of the New River. So, if youāre the photographer who took this picture, let me know how youād like to be credited (or if I need to find a new background image).Ā
I love this picture, though, with the tranquil water reflecting the mountains and that lone tree jutting up on the left. It has a nice balance, or perhaps a good visual flow, and it reminds me of home. (Iām originally from Blacksburg, Va, and Narrows is a little over half an hour west and a smidge north of home.)
Anyways, Iām also posting the various stages of my photoshopping (well, actually, I just used the āmarkup toolbarā in Preview on my Mac to edit the color of the image, but that doesnāt work as a verb as well as photoshop does).Ā
Aside from my general love of all things purple, I also wanted to tint the picture purple so that it would be a picture ofĀ āthe Lande of Violet Mistsā. The Lande (with anĀ āeā for artistic flair) of Violet Mists is a fantasy land and somewhat of an in-joke going back to the blogspot blog I made Sophomore year of high school. It has a vague mythos on said blog--in bits and pieces, such as the one I have in my blog description here--but itās mostly more of an aesthetic theme than a properly developed literary location, though I have written bits and pieces set there. Remind me to dig some of those back up and see if any are worth sharing here, actually.Ā
At first made this edit for aforementioned high school blogspot, and I did try to set it as my background there, but I couldnāt get the formatting to work. When I started this tumblr, though, I was happy I had it in reserve.Ā
So, basically I tinted the picture pink and turned the temperature towards cool (aka blue) to make it purple. I think I also decreased the sharpness to give it that atmospheric haze and boosted the saturation some to intensify it. I decided the first one wasnāt purple enough, so I made the second one, but that one just looked too unnatural (and a bit too pink) so I went back to the first one (each time I started a new edit, I made a copy of the original so that I could have each step as a separate image) and made it just a little more purple. I liked that one, and I just inserted a translucent square to have that more opaque region in the middle where posts go. That wasnāt wide enough, though, so I actually took a screenshot so that Iād have an image in proportion with my computer screen and copy-pasted the image onto that and stretched it wider, and thatās how I got the final image. I suppose this isnāt necessarily specific enough to be helpful as a tutorial, but hopefully it gives the gist of how I edited my background picture. When in doubt, add purple :)
My mom asked me to knock a spiderweb down for her the other day (she's very afraid of spiders and I kinda like them so I'm the household spider deal-wither) and I was like, "but mom! Free Halloween decorations!"
It's still up. For now, at least.

Iām feeling such secondhand bittersweetness right now; 100 episodes of an awesome show is a great accomplishment, and Iām happy we got this far. All the same, I canāt help that endings are always sad--like, Iāve heard that wholeĀ ādonāt cry because itās over, smile because it happenedā quote, and I often think about it, but still. But at the same time, the end hasnāt even properly started for us yet; itās just over for the actors and camera people and such. I imagine the editors have a fair amount of work ahead still (shoutout to my editing peeps ;) (I work as a video editor for a local historical society)). Still, Iām glad I found Gotham when I did, and itās been a fun ride.Ā
I mean, itās crazy because I just started watching this summer, but itās cool to be here now to go through the end as part of the fandom. Itās rare that Iām caught up and active in a fandom, especially at such a climactic time. I mean this was a couple of days ago now, but still. In the broader span of fandom history... I was here, watching as Gotham ended. I feel like Iām standing with my fandom dramatically perched on a rooftop gazing into the sunset as chaotic explosions bloom around us in the encroaching night.Ā

Returning to the matter of my phone screensaver, I have actually done a separate home/lock screen for the first time, and this is now my lock screen because I was just in a Spicy Watson mood when I was setting my screensavers.Ā
Iāve also had a lot of wanderlust lately, and itās just about exactly a year ago right now that I got home from my study abroad in London (and other places in the UK, but the longest portion of it was in London). At one point I stood in almost exactly the spot this picture wouldāve been taken from if it was a photo, in fact--well, not precisely at this angle, but along the walkway by the river near the London Eye.
I know itās meant as Sherlock fanart, and I can definitely hear the theme song playing in my head as I look at it with that in mind, but I love that itās also subtle enough that it just makes me feel like Iām there. I donāt know if there are any Thamesside hotels in the right spot to have this view, but the purpley-sparkly sky makes me feel like Iām sitting on the crisp white sheets of a bed in the window of one such hotel room, gazing out against the fading light of the sunset as the stars slowly come alight during a power outage apparently because you could never see that many stars from there sorry I know this is no time for realismĀ and the hum of the street begins to dull for the night, giving way to the rustling of the river. Itās just very tranquil when Iām not overanalyzingĀ it and transportive and, again, purple is my color so itās great for that too. Thereās just a particular, unique feeling to sleeping in a hotel in a city, and this piece has that feeling to it.Ā
Inspired by Sherlock!

The IT crowd idea makes me think of the aesthetic similarities between Richmond and Revenge Era Gerard, and so now I want a bunch of BL/ind computer folks with aforementioned Gerard living in their closet, lurking around spookily and occasionally stealing their coffee mugs.Ā
At some point later in the series, he meets Party Poison and several blatant āwe look nothing alikeā jokes are made.

Another thing I wish couldāve happened in Gotham: Oswaldās family interacting. It seems like weāve met most members of his family, but pretty much all of them one at a time. It works for the plot, but we donāt get much family fluff because of it. So, these are exactly the sort of character interactions Iām so glad to find in fandom.Ā Gertrude wouldāve made a great grandma, and I bet Martin would loved going to visit her <3 All of this is just so adorable and cute and I love it. Whatever happens in the show, Oswald will always have a happy family in fandomĀ :)
spending time with grandma!!!
Welcome, dear traveller, to our fantastical lande shrouded in swirling violet mists. Here we study how stories shape our lives, how words weave wonders before our eyes. Here we are enamoured of love and the connections betwixt people. Here we seek daring adventures in our wild lande, delving into the unknown at every turn. But mostly, here you'll find my obsession with any number of things, like Doctor Who, the Vampire Diaries, or any number of others from the ever-shifting tide of obsessions through which I cycle. My more-used sideblog is blagueofchaos if you ever wish I posted more :) She/her, 28
