People love talking about being warriors of social justice. They condemn any country who’s against it. But somehow the activists always fail small countries. Countries who don’t have big economical value outside of their territory. Countries they don’t know much about.

Artsakh and  Armenia have been under attack since September 27th. It’s a continuation of the ethnic massacre started in 1915-1917. International media outlets have published only a few and very neutral articles about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Congressmen and congresswomen, UN, OSCE, goverments’ representatives have only “urged” the terrorist attacks to stop. Meanwhile countries like USA, Russia, Israel, Georgia make it possible for Azerbaijan and Turkey to get ammunition, which they use to target not only board soldiers ( born in 2000′s) but also innocent civilians.

The internet community has been silent for the most part. Armenians and other supporters have made uproaring trends and have provided information and countless informative infographs so that the online community would be informed and would spread the word. But the coverage is still minimal. People refuse to join.

Artsakh is being attacked the same way as Palestine, Crimea, Lebanon. All small locations, counties that have been failed to be protected. Countries who fight every day to keep their indigenous people and lands alive.

Why is the world silent? If the issue was about a nazi group attacking jews, the world would go apeshit. So what’s the difference? Why the favoritism? People still need help, be it jews or armenians or any other nation.

Wildfires, dying fish and burning cathedrals get worldwide news coverage the first day. But people, actual people, are dying and no one bats an eye.

Locally speaking, a trans person flees an abusive home and the gofundme post gets 5k notes (as it should). But countless people die because of their ethnicity and religious views and the posts about them never surpass 1k notes.

Why is that? Please take a second to reevaluate your bias and actually recognize how much of your online activism is performative and how much of it is actually useful, unbiased, based purely on human rights.

It is funny how the words "liberal" and "liberalism", in the US, have a very different meaning from what we say here. Here, "liberal" is more aligned with the right wing in economic matters. Liberals defend the end of state-owned intervention in economics and less taxes, it is more related to that than behaviour or social believes. Liberalism benefits the rich as it also defends the end of public institutions like the health public system or universities. This is why it is associated with right-wingers. On social aspects, they tend to be more conservatives, but maybe you'll see liberal activist who support gay marriage or the legalization of marijuana, but also they are pro-gun and against abortion (individual freedom).

There are left winger liberals, but this is a ehole other storie.
