Peter singing “The Best of Both Worlds” by Hannah Montana except he changes it up like
You get the Audi out front
All the trauma, all the death and destruction
Yeah, when you’re famous it can be kinda sad
It’s really you but only Ned discovers
In most ways you’re nothing like your friends
You’re making webs just like a spider
You get the worst of both worlds
Yeah, you turn to dust
Then watch Iron Man rust
You get the worst of both worlds
Mix it all together and you know that it’s the worst of both worlds
so i’ve seen a lot of these going round, and in honor of fanfic appreciation day i’m going to jump on the bandwagon and share my fic rec list! these are the ones i always love to come back to. they’re all super talented and brilliant - check them out! in no particular order:
a river to skate away on by @frostysunflowers - the best memory loss fic out there, period. incredible writing and fantastic characterization!
turn back the clock (and i’ll try again in the morning) by @madasthesea - time loop plus identity reveal equals fanfiction gold. i have reread this an embarrassing amount of times: the angst is absolutely supreme, and the resolution is immensely satisfying!
alucinari by celluloid - a fantastic fic exploring the effect of ffh on peter. it’s a little dark, but incredibly well written!
runaway by spectra - irondad is upped to the max when peter runs away from home. it’s a cool concept, and executed brilliantly!
when in doubt just keep the faith by sparrowflight246 - this is one of my favorite biodad fics of all time. it’s supremely angsty, but the comfort is well worth it!
goner by @emkayohh / camelotqueen - peter goes after a serial killer in queens. one of the best kidnap fics out there, imo!
let’s kick it by @too-many-bees / civilbores - peter gets an alien disease and deals with it spectacularly badly. amazing hurt/comfort and a fab conclusion
it wasn’t you by @losingmymindtonight - i’m a sucker for fics like these, and this is a shining example. supremely good whump and recovery
the entirety of @tempestaurora‘s whumpvember series - there’s not much i can say that the series doesn’t say for itself: this is one of the best 30-day whump challenges i’ve ever read! each part has incredible effort put into it, and stands alone extremely well
i’ll always find you in the drift by @tempestaurora - this is a crossover with pacific rim, but even if you’re unfamiliar with it this fic is still a fantastic ride and deserves more attention. the characterization is perfect, and it’s filled with brilliant cameos
five times peter parker pretended to be asleep by @blondsak - all-around incredible 5+1 featuring the amazingly-characterized avengers, and great irondad! awesome blend of angst and humor
what if there is no tomorrow? by @iron–spider - it’s another time loop, but this time tony’s inside it. it’s a brilliant reworking of the groundhog day trope to fit mcu characters, and it keeps amazingly well to the original film’s tone
brooklyn by @hailing-stars - i’m usually not a fan of bad guy may stories, but this fic absolutely knocks it out of the park. it also carries a healthy dose of ironmom! (note: this is part six of a series, which is fantastic and sets up this story.)
don’t leave me now by @iron–spider - peter thinks he’s losing his powers, and it leads to a whole lot of fantastic hurt/comfort. one of my favorite fics!
i’m probably guaranteed to have forgotten a bunch of my other favorites on here, but i encourage you to read all these and give the authors some love! happy fanfic appreciation day. 💕
People love talking about being warriors of social justice. They condemn any country who’s against it. But somehow the activists always fail small countries. Countries who don’t have big economical value outside of their territory. Countries they don’t know much about.
Artsakh and Armenia have been under attack since September 27th. It’s a continuation of the ethnic massacre started in 1915-1917. International media outlets have published only a few and very neutral articles about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Congressmen and congresswomen, UN, OSCE, goverments’ representatives have only “urged” the terrorist attacks to stop. Meanwhile countries like USA, Russia, Israel, Georgia make it possible for Azerbaijan and Turkey to get ammunition, which they use to target not only board soldiers ( born in 2000′s) but also innocent civilians.
The internet community has been silent for the most part. Armenians and other supporters have made uproaring trends and have provided information and countless informative infographs so that the online community would be informed and would spread the word. But the coverage is still minimal. People refuse to join.
Artsakh is being attacked the same way as Palestine, Crimea, Lebanon. All small locations, counties that have been failed to be protected. Countries who fight every day to keep their indigenous people and lands alive.
Why is the world silent? If the issue was about a nazi group attacking jews, the world would go apeshit. So what’s the difference? Why the favoritism? People still need help, be it jews or armenians or any other nation.
Wildfires, dying fish and burning cathedrals get worldwide news coverage the first day. But people, actual people, are dying and no one bats an eye.
Locally speaking, a trans person flees an abusive home and the gofundme post gets 5k notes (as it should). But countless people die because of their ethnicity and religious views and the posts about them never surpass 1k notes.
Why is that? Please take a second to reevaluate your bias and actually recognize how much of your online activism is performative and how much of it is actually useful, unbiased, based purely on human rights.
so 1910 people died from covid 19 today in Brazil and soon my state will enter lockdown because no one knows what to do doing, and I really wanted to watch Chaos Walking but I won't be able to do so. Since it won't be released on streaming service and going to the theaters is practically impossible, could anyone recommend me a site where I can watch it for free, once it's released?
I am a big Tom Holland stan and I've been waiting for this movie for years. Apparently it is not that bad of a movie so it's worth the shot.
You cant criticise Israel or zionism without at least one person going “so do you hate jewish people?” Or any other varient of asking you to denounce antisemitism. Yet Israelis can march while demeaning and insulting Muslims and our religious figures, or can openly call for mass genocide by chanting “death to all Arabs” and no one bats an eye? Where is the call for them to denounce Islamophobia?
Dont turn it into a “so are you saying one shouldn’t denounce antisemitism if their counterparts don’t denounce islamophobia?” Because I that is not what I’m saying. Both are as bad as the other and it’s hypocritical of you to support one and ignore the other.
Antisemitism and Islamophobia have no place in our society and it’s disturbing to know that most people don’t feel like that.
I urge you to watch this video and compare it to the previous pictures and videos of Palestine and its people that I’ve posted. You will notice a very obvious difference, people in Palestine are trying to survive while Israelis are encouraging mass genocide and an ethnic cleansing. There are countless videos of people, children, mourning their friends and family while the people in this video want more of them dead. How is this okay? Why is no one holding Israel accountable? Where are the sanctions? And where are the world leaders now? Everyone was quick to jump on the “they have the right to defend themselves” boat but who exactly are they defending themselves from? This doesn’t seem like self defence to me? The world is watching Israel and there simply is no way for anyone to deny that whats going on is wrong.

President’s reputation battered as hearings describe handling of pandemic as inept
[Image description: Jair Bolsonaro.]
For the third time in a little over a month, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro this weekend rallied thousands of his conservative support base in a noisy motorcycle demonstration dubbed “accelerate for Christ”.
Observers had little doubt about the populist leader’s motivation: he needed to show strength. Over the past two months, the former army captain’s reputation has been battered by a stream of revelations over his government’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, which have emerged in an official congressional investigation known as the CPI.
The CPI has cast the Brazilian government’s response as woefully inept and even hazardous to public health: from the president’s emphatic support for discredited remedies, such as chloroquine, to allegations that the government ignored dozens of emails regarding vaccine supply from Pfizer and even ran a parallel health ministry within the executive office.
“We had the time, we had the tools — an enviable primary healthcare-based system — but we delusionally insisted on the wrong paths,” said Luana Araujo, an infectious disease specialist, who testified at the hearings in Brasília. “Part of us still does. We chose to ignore the experience from the rest of the world, and this combination of arrogance and ignorance is far too dangerous.”
