Daily Doodles- Day 171- 04/10/24

A new character for a new story idea!

At the moment, her name is Artimax and she's a 59-year-old woman who lives in the forest village with her husband and children.

When she was 19, on her wedding day, she was accused of a heinous crime that she didn't commit and the people dragged her from her wedding and threw her into the 'dark forest' (I haven't decided on an ominous enough name yet) as punishment to fit the crime.

Her almost mother-in-law was ecstatic because she never liked her and her people-pleasing almost-husband didn't try to save her.

She was supposed to die in the forest because no one who entered came out.

Turns out people live in the forest, happily and comfortably. She made a life for herself there, met her husband and kids and healed from early life hurts.

That was until she got a letter in her mailbox though, from her ex-fiance's family clearing her name and inviting her to a 'welcome home' party.

Dude, I'm so sorry about the Steven Universe ask. I mean, I shoulda known, this is the Steven Universe site™ after all, but still, sorry for being one of the reasons people are lambasting you >_>

Oh no worries! No worries! It's not your fault. They don't know the Lord. They're just doing what people who don't know the Lord do. Nothing new. It gets tiring sometimes just repeating myself, but so many of you guys are reaching out and saying encouraging things that I'm really not bothered.

I mean, like I said when I answered the question: that's what I really think and what I really believe about Steven Universe. And people won't like it. When people don't like things nowadays, they go no-holds-barred. 🤷‍♀️ I expected the backlash.

I wouldn't take it back or take it down. I'm glad you asked. I think people don't realize that, even if you don't see the White Diamond As God comparison, you're still getting the residue of what that means in the other values of Steven Universe. You're still getting the message "perfection is somehow a bad thing" or "you can be whatever you want and that's good" or "what you're made for isn't satisfying."

And I think Christians need to stop and think. Those messages aren't good; they don't line up with the truth. And when you start to look at them in any kind of careful observation, they fall apart and start to look silly.

So I wouldn't take it down, and I'm glad you asked!

Going back to my fine liner roots with the delicate lime art!

I recently bought new ones and I feel comfortable enough to play around with my old ones now that I have extras.

I also added some coloured pencil to the mix!

The thing about being religious is you'll talk about your beliefs and/or experiences with non-religious people, and they'll sort of pat you on the head and say, "Yes, what a nice little idea, I'm glad that you have your beliefs to comfort you!" and every time you have to bite your tongue because your religion isn't just a "nice little idea" to you, it's a cosmic truth that underlies all things, and furthermore, although God Himself has comforted you, that doesn't mean that faith itself is comfortable, but if you put any of that into words, they'll look at you funny.

Most people are only interested in gnosticism because they think it's more interesting than traditional Christianity, but I really think that if gnosticism had survived to the 21st century it would be even more insufferable than evangelical protestant stuff

I was thinking of Dani from Danny Phantom and how she's drawn with her beanie in human form.

I love the art style of the show and it's the main inspo behind the way I draw right now.

Not to be that guy but it is really discouraging for people who are trying to be faithful and celibate when you act like being single is a death sentence or like something is wrong with you for not finding someone
